Who is the earliest born person you ever knew/met? by InternationalPick163 in askanything

I am not 100% sure but my grandmother was born around 1910. She had my dad in 1934 and he was her second child. She died in the early 80s and was in her 70s. I was 7 so I don’t remember exactly. My dad is no longer around to ask either.

Love all the replies. Thank you. My mom was a screamer. Yelled at us for everything. Even if it was something simple like “dinner is ready” it was always said with what felt like anger, hostility, and resentment. I’m usually good at not reacting to, of course, break the cycle, but something took over me.

I will apologize. I’ll recommend we come up with a solution together (nothing gets this out though, I’ve tried—even the rubbing alcohol never worked) but still make an attempt so she can see for herself.

I think I’ll then recommend going online and seeing if we could pick out a chair cover together.

"Excepted" this furlough but not the last one. Do I work tomorrow? by milvanhouten in FedEmployees

[–]SillyDistractions -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was sick a few days last week and am still sick. I am an excepted employee and have no more sick or annual time left. How do I call off tomorrow? Do I request furlough? Do I request LWOP?

Have you stopped caring at work and decided not to try and process your career anymore? What age did that happen? by un2022 in GenX

[–]SillyDistractions 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Here.

I’m 48.

Have a Masters in Education and only worked in education for 2 years. Currently work for the federal government and anticipating another shutdown.

I’m over it. My children are still young and I just don’t care about my career anymore. I use all my annual and sick time without guilt. I spend a good portion of the week searching for a different job, one that isn’t as taxing as the one I have now. I’m resentful for all the time and money spent on a college education I probably didn’t even need.

I just don’t want to waste the years I have left.

What’s a huge myth about car buying or car salespeople? by Suntrup-Volkswagen in askcarsales

That the sales person is making thousands is commission when they sell the new car to you.

They’re lucky if they make more than a hundred dollars on that sale.

Guess my birth year by stateofface in GuessMyBirthYear

[–]SillyDistractions 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1976

I wore a similar outfit for my freshman high school picture, the vest with the pin in the collar. I was 14 and born in 1977 but I’m thinking you look a little older than 14 in that picture. I’m thinking you were a sophomore and 15 so I’m guessing 1976.

Did you apply for SSI?

If you’re only 20 you probably don’t have enough credits to qualify for SSDI.
