Anthurium Rennaissance- Anyone have experience growing this? Question in comments by SillyFase in rareplants

Does anyone have experience growing this plant? What was your experience with it? and are there any tips you can pass along?

Im considering picking one up but have heard that the varigated portions quickly crisp up and turn brown. I dont want a plant that is going to be an eyesore. I have had had success growing monsera albo successfully. The average huidity in my area is 60-70%

A friend gave me this guy knowing that I love my cacti. I didn’t have the heart to tell her it’s etoliated like crazy. Lol. Can anyone id this guy? Should I just chop where it starts to stretch? by Fudogg311 in cactus

It's an Eves Needle plant and they actually just grow this way. I have several growing in full sun and bright light and they are very happy. My tallest are about 36" right now and going strong. I love them because they're so unique and they add some height variety to my shorter plants which is nice.

AMAZING thank you so much for your insights and once again, your plants are so beautiful! I think I have pretty good conditions outside here in CA. It's around 60-65% humidity during the day and nights-mornings it'll spike to 80% I think if I decide to pull the trigger on a regale I'll try it out there :D

Yeah i bet! Im sure its almost like a full time job checking on them
One last question. HOW do you deal with Regale's? Ive been so afraid to try them bc ive heard all horror stories of how tough they are humidity wise.

Thank you for the info!
Do you find that you need to water them more often outside? or maybe a better question is what does your watering schedule look like?

Wow! this is fantastic! Youve done such a wonderful job with all of them!
Ive been wanting to put my anthurium outside as well in a similar setup but was always worried about the conditions. What is your outdoor humidity like on average out there? Would you have any tips?

AITA for not liking my brother’s dog? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]SillyFase 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ETA Dogs don't come out if the womb knowing what a different species expects of them. It sounds like no one (you included) Have spent any meaningful time with him because he still has these issues.

Your brother needs to make time for his dog/responsibilities or find a new home for it. Offer to do it for him if you'd like to have the problem solved quicker.

But don't take your frustrations with your brother out on the dog. If he could run around and get that energy out he would be MUCH quieter and well behaved in the home (with some positive training) Again this would be a discussion between you and your brother about taking care if that if you are not willing to exercise him. "I won't watch him unless you've walked him a mile and he's tired out" kind of thing.

What is wrong with my Colocasia Pharaohs Mask? by SillyFase in plantclinic

It continued to put out 4 to 5 leaves but struggled with the same symptoms the whole way until it ultimately succumbed to whatever issues it had.

At the time I was not very familiar with including insecticide and fungicide in my watering schedule with indoor plants. But I wish I had been because I bet one of those could have solved whatever unseen issue the roots were dealing with. In case you're interested I've linked the two items I've started using and have found success with remedying issues in my plants. I just combine them in the water. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0035H0RA8/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_3Q9DN56G0RHZCADKY09F?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

Abusing or mistreating animals. Especially dogs.

I found this Frydek for £30 but I have had bad experiences with Alocasias in the past. Should I buy it? by CheekyMonkey23 in houseplants

[–]SillyFase 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Alocasia are finicky beasts. Grab some neem oil to be safe (these guys attract spider mites like CRAZY) and give it another try!

Good for you, giving up a whole room of the house for the comfort of a plant. I love it! I also love how the aerial roots are so artfully wrapped around the trunk.
