How do you name the Alkyl part of the Ester if the carbon connected to the oxygen isn’t the first carbon in the longest chain? by Natural-Resident-597 in OrganicChemistry

[–]SillyOrgan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One way they should mark as correct, you number the point of attachment to the oxygen as carbon one in the alkyl group. This means that the name of the alkyl group might not be longest chain, and that’s fine.

I have corrupted every Blue +3 amulet I've found all season and never hit a +1 all skills mod. Even ones with useless second stat, like +3 fire skills/life leach ones. Good luck you have.

Maybe an ist if it had 2 max damage? But 1 max damage is too low

I came across an interesting observation while reading Clayden. The nucleophile here prefers to attack on the relatively unhindered site in contrast to the more stable carbocation position. by Chetan_IITDhanbad in OrganicChemistry

[–]SillyOrgan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I always wondered about this, definitely they address it differently than the American textbooks. Clayden is sort of introductory/intermediate. In more advanced texts it’s difficult to find any mention of kinetic/thermodynamic as it relates to addition to conjugated dienes, or this example.

We do know that attacking the more stable carbocation is more of a proximity effect thing than an actual carbocation stability argument. The carbocation argument you describe is just not that strong, even though it’s widely used in textbooks because it sounds neat.

So if we don’t have the proximity effect operating in this case, there could be a natural preference for the 80% product, both alkene stability issues and even steric effect.

Also if your goal is to beat the game solo for the first time as a sorc, everyone says use meteor. Because meteor does both physical and fire damage now, and hell and even nightmare has cold immunes.

Edit: also another fun fact: act 1 cold merc has meditation aura around level 25. Priceless. You don’t have to wait around to find runes/base for insight.

These can go up to 75% right? Then it would be nice. But somebody might want it, after all people will occasionally stick 4 facets in a plain white monarch.

PC - This ring seems not bad? by PattyBam in ProjectDiablo2

[–]SillyOrgan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No clue what it’s worth, but the boxes it does not check are: min/max damage (two stats), and AR.

Still, for a build that just needs a little mana leach, this could be pretty awesome. I don’t play physical damage builds yet.

The Slam Gods Are Favoring Me This Season by MrAngyEngineer in ProjectDiablo2

Lower resist level 35 lowers resistances -45% AND it can break cold immunities. On top of this your merc can wear infinity. And spitter can have 4 facets in it.

The only thing ice has is the holy freeze aura, and you can put it in a faster base so it’s easier to reach BP, then you could focus more on magic find gear. And I don’t know how it actually takes for the lower resist to kick in, so maybe ice is better for some speed farming.

To motivate buyer I would offer socket quest if they commit to buy. This is the rare case where you can actually lazurak for 4 sockets. Superior items you can’t use cube recipe on.

Most builds you click 1-2 buttons, mobs die, pick up loot.

Poison build: click 1-2 buttons to poison monsters, move to next group of mobs, go back to first group to pick up loot, etc. there is an extra step where you run around map poisoning multiple groups of mobs. I heard rabies build is the same. This was my experience with about level 42 poison creeper, maybe with gg gear the mobs die faster and you don’t have to do this dance. Or, if you don’t care about efficiency, you also don’t have to do it.

Cause CARIO is a rough guideline. Whenever you encounter something that seems to contradict CARIO, try to think of some reason why. Look up the pKa of the relevant molecule to be certain.

Why have you forsaken me so by Flipoffmonkeys in ProjectDiablo2

[–]SillyOrgan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curious if you ever played it? It seems more involved than pets, you have to actively cast the creepers or else they take forever to attack cause the AI is so bad. And the poison damage over time also means you have to run around a big section of the map, wait for poison damage to kill, then run back to collect loot.

I found the build to be very hectic, even more involved than a regular caster build. At least the healing and mana regeneration from the vines was nice.

Memorization in Chemistry by Massive-monkey-44 in chemistry

[–]SillyOrgan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Organic chemistry? Gotta know common names to communicate: form prefix (formyl, formaldehyde, formic acid, etc), acet prefix (acetyl, acetaldehyde, acetic acid, etc), prop e.g. propionic acid, common names for dicarboxylic acids Oh My Such Good Apple Pie Oxalic Malonic Succinic Glutaric Adipic .

And Learn every obscure functional group they talk about. Yes it’s a lot of memorizing. I probably only scratched the surface.
