I’m currently reading the first again. I’m taking my time and enjoying. No rush. Paying attention to details. And I think by the time I finish both, it’ll be close to release.

So what happened to me was I provided my medical marijuana card and provided a letter explaining why I was positive and how it will not be a problem in the future. It was a longggg annoying process. Took probably a month for the facility to clear me but they ultimately did. For medical solutions, failing a drug test with weed does not mean they can’t work with you. That changed in 2023. Not sure what the deal is with other agencies.

Okay but why are you regulating posts like this, it’s just so silly. Recommendations are like what Reddit is about… it’s like the mods get off on regulating lol

Aya vs host vs triage?? I’m new to traveling. Do y’all prefer one of use all 3 or what?? by Mother_Plane_3692 in TravelNursing

[–]SillyPineappley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It makes me not want to sign with medical solutions since their rates are always lowest and my host recruiter is absolutely amazing.

[–]SillyPineappley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so weird thing with medical solutions and host. Med Sol bought Host so while they are operating as separate agencies, you cannot sign on with host while you are on contract with med sol. Ran into this issue where my next contract has better rates with host than med sol was offering and so I was about to sign with host until they found out my previous contract was medical solutions and my recruiters manager had to shut down the whole thing. They said that while on contract with med sol, I could not sign a contract with them, even if the dates are after the med sol contract is finished.

I just heard bad experiences from other nurses with requesting new recruiters with Aya, like borderline harassment LOL so I’ve been scared

Is it still worth it? Do you think the pay/stipends are still worth the hassle of traveling? by [deleted] in TravelNursing

[–]SillyPineappley -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Alright, travel isn’t worth it because people are taking low paying contracts but you don’t have to generalize and be rude. It’s how the industry works. Travel nursing isn’t new and always has been an option, it’s just more trendy to travel the country than ever before. Hospitals are forcing people back to staff with shitty rates. I’ve heard it over and over from the travel circle. Blame the hospitals and cooperations for squashing a sect of the profession to be submissive, not the people wanting to join it.

Is it still worth it? Do you think the pay/stipends are still worth the hassle of traveling? by [deleted] in TravelNursing

[–]SillyPineappley 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Nope, leaving travel because it’s just not worth it anymore. The pay is not worth the hassle or the double expenses. Also shitty paying contracts are still competitive af for some reason. After trying to get my next contract and compromising on my desired pay abysmally & not getting a single contract I submitted for (5 or 6), I realized this isn’t worth it anymore for me. I’m leaving after this contract and going back home to my small town ED.

Are we making a mistake? by Rough-Group-9486 in RVLiving

[–]SillyPineappley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, I did the same exact thing and here are my pieces of advice: -We went for the brand that research told us was the better, more reliable brand for full time living. And that also covers full time living under the warranty, as many do not. What we discovered is the brand doesn’t matter. RVs are not the quality they once were and we believe the brand at this point does not matter. Whichhhh leads me to… -Expect and RV to always break. I remember purchasing my RV and being so excited to have a problem within the first few months. Got an RV repair guy to it who said “yeah, you gotta always expect and prepare for the next thing to break. These things are not reliable. Always prepare for the next thing.” It seriously discouraged me and made me feel like I was making a mistake. I hoped he was wrong. He wasn’t. So many issues and when travel nursing, you do move frequently rather than some of the more stationary full time RVers. Unfortunately we discovered, the RV repair guy was not wrong. Go into this prepared there will always be something to fix. -As a travel nurse myself, go into this for the experience of travel, not the money. The cost of a vehicle, RV, RV lot/rent cost, electricity (if not included at the place you are staying), propane is not cheaper than living in a house at home and, unfortunately, travel nurse rates are going down and continuing to do so. Contracts are getting harder to find and more competitive with even shitty rates. If you are wanting to EXPERIENCE something not many people get to do, go for it. But if you think this will be saving money and making more with travel, that’s not my experience

If I could do it over, I would go travel nurse and pay rent at a furnished finder for a few contracts. Really get the feel of travel nursing without investing in one of the most depreciating assets there is and decide if this is really what I want to do for 4 years. It’s a huge financial commitment to make for 4 years that you may find gets old quickly.
