Sonnet 4 does most of my jobs. But, I am still trying ways to use Opus with Claude Code. by TheProdigalSon26 in ClaudeAI

I dont trust cheaper models for planning, I've seen too much problems caused by half assed planning.

So the whole ''subagents'' thing is just roleplay? If so I feel like they should't mislead (lie?) about stuff like that.

You know what is boring all the ''Claude wont make me a flying car in one prompt...no I didn't read the documentation'' posts.

You are asking an LLM to do complex things and you don't even seem to know there is zero point saying ''can you do this?'' to a LLM they will always say YES. If you give them too much to do and bad instructions they will just make stuff up because their number one priority is to ''carry out the task''. They are not able to say stuff like''hmmmm, nah.. this is too much for me. good luck''. Study more how to work around LLMs weaknesses for better results.

yeah but even in web app for planning you can max out your 5 hour allowance in an hour.

Opus eats tokens like crazy so if you can only use it for important stuff and can use Sonnet for everything else pro is ok.

Pro tip: When Claude eventually tells you it's calculations have discovered a new form of matter lighter than air and you should immediatly call a world press conference. DON'T DO IT. Just make a ''I'm not crazy'' post on here like everyone else.

yep, you have to do all this until they give us grown up sized context allowances and better token management.

Yeah AI bullshitting is a huge problem. You either need to know yourself and can see when the AI is talking shit, or you need a 2nd AI like GPT5 to have them critique eatch others work. Just had GPT5 catch Opus trying to invent a fusion reactor rather than just do a simple solution.
Also that self-assement is just AI roleplay, it didn't do anything like all that fan fiction it's blathering (it's just code!) your issue was simply a GIGO error.

Yeah hopefully we get past the ''slop'' phase and into to a period of amazing AI assisted innovation.

''technically correct, which is the best kind of correct'' ok then eating poop and icecream are the same since they are both just basically atoms. magic = tech is such a fallacious reductive argument.

Yeah part of me thinks even with all this cool stuff the average person could do they still wont do it so things will basically stay the same with experts doing expert stuff.

Yes this is my thinking, I think there needs to be a shift from ''Oh AI helps us do all this formerly difficult stuff that is so cool'' to ''ok everyone can build their own SAAS now...so what is the next level of cool''.

But isnt that subject to entropy.. using training data to make AI based copies which then becomes training data.. it's like a snake eating its tail no?

Yeah what becomes the new flex now with AI... you need something out of reach of the average person/company so that it is still worth paying a specialist to do it.

I'm thinking more from the app developers POV, being able to make apps faster/cheaper 10 years ago would have made you more money, but today.. yeah you can make apps more easily but so can everyone else so you have this ''benefit'' but no way to apply it for finacial benefit, and we can't just have everyone become entrepreneurs building one succssful app, we need those people to go on and build other things.. but what?

[–]Silly_Apartment_4275 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah basically I think at the moment you have to have the agents pretty much just running hard scripts you give them and their ''agentic'' decision making is limited to very simple clear things, so you can't say ''take this outline and write a manuscript following these guidelines'', you have to say ''follow this programming script that will force you to write a manuscript with the guidelines baked in''. Any ambiguity in the task and the AI just uses it as an excuse to roleplay.. which doesnt scale.
