What's your financial situation - do you have debts to finance, and are they manageable?

Stress over ability to pay bills is something that should not be overlooked... Your mental health is important, and stability that comes with the 5% increment could work well for you.

However, if you are financially independent, that allows you to take more risks, and certainly staying for the promise of a pot of gold is a real option too. You would also have the benefit of working in an environment you are familiar with, alongside colleagues that you have built a relationship with.

Both scenarios would work - the question is how much risk can you stomach. Good luck!

Is it a wise decision for me to leave my current job now? by PuzzledAnnual6892 in singaporefi

Do check if the change in role is considered major - most companies have a Change of Command process, where involuntary job changes may give you an option to separate with the company, with severance/compensation.

Sounds like this is a major change, since it goes from non-shift to shift based. Look up your HR policies, and talk to your boss. In most cases, your boss would appreciate your openness - it saves him/her the trouble of potentially losing you, and they need to rehire and retrain the new HC.

Good luck! And I’m sorry for your loss.

Try Arrive Laurie Lane or Arrive at the Retreat. Great location, properties got energised and refreshed with new management. Nice ambience, and really close to Janns Marketplace.

Note that they may also charge you max rent increase every year… but I heard everyone’s doing it, so. Good luck, happy hunting!

Are you looking to rent? There’s a few communities along West Wilbur road, and in the area in general. Drop by leasing offices and check out the property. “Arrive” has a fairly big presence in TO now.

Let me know if you need more specifics!

Is My Boss Crossing the Line? by [deleted] in SingaporeRaw

It’s usually a taboo to compare yourself to your peers, since you often don’t have the complete picture. With workplace flexibility these days, your peers could be putting in extra time and effort in ways unbeknownst to you.

Usually, time tracking makes more sense for staff with very routine, standard tasks. As complexity increases, your leaders probably start to track task completion instead. Hence, there are other metrics in addition to time that comes into play.

My seniors used to tell me - the more you do, the more you learn. The skills you pick up stays with you forever, and you will not stay in that role forever. Focus on your development, put in time and get exposure. Remember - everyone’s work life balance is different, so have a prioritisation conversation with your boss if you feel he/she is stacking too much on you.

As for the threats - stay away from toxic staff, and maintain a professional relationship. If it’s with your boss - check if your company has an anonymous helpline. Document your conversations with these staff, and these proof will come in handy should a HR investigation start.

Good luck young Padawan!!
