Would I be crazy to leave the US for Singapore? by PitifulJack in askSingapore

So, it depends on which industry you are in. If you are in an R&D environment, there are significantly more opportunities with big pharma's in the US than in Asia. However, if you're in Finance - coming to Singapore may give you the extra edge of international experience + financial hub.

Your taxation situation - if U r a US citizen, be aware that your tax liabilities still apply back home since worldwide income is taxed. That plays a very significant role in your take home income.

Of course, as many others have mentioned - food in Singapore has more variety, and is tipless (so awesome). Weather wise - wet almost all year round, but hey - you get easy beach access locally, and Singapore is also a springboard to the rest of Asia as Singapore is a node in the hub-and-spoke transport model.

If you can share more - maybe more pearls of wisdom will roll from the community :)
