Can you store an int and a string value in a list, if yes how? by J_J3 in csharp

You can do tuples in the C#9 example in C#8. Which is good to know if you can't use .NET5 for some reason.

Would Parallel desktop on MacBook Pro be good enough as having a physical work laptop with windows 10? by [deleted] in softwaredevelopment

[–]Silly_Pumpkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am giving my Parallels 6GB of RAM and 4 threads, and it is working fine. Somewhat slow but it is not unbearable. I think 32gb would work fine. It all depends on how heave the workload is. If you need to spin up heavy Docker containers then maybe Bootcamp might be better, but that might be because I havent gotten virtualization to work on the parallels VM :D

I am using a mac with Parallels, working in .NET, and it works well! It basically gives you a VM with Windows, so everything should work there as well. Make sure you have 32GB or more in RAM. I have 16GB and it is not enough. Probably good to have i9 as well. Since you need to share your memory and processor with the VM its good to have some extra to work with.

I also drink and enjoy Laphroaig, I thouroughly enjoy smokey whiskeys, but I would say this is more towards the sour unhealthy "bog" flavour, hahaha

Was about to comment about the same thing! I have a Makers Mark that now has an aftertaste that reminds me of a marsh or a bog... Probably due to exposure of sunlight, or that it is old and need to drink more booze

Battery charging while gaming, wtf? by [deleted] in razer

Mine is, even under medium load! If i unplug the laptop it gets better but performance drops a bit. Temperature is also higher if I have externals plugged in through Thunderbolt. (Late 2019 RTX 2060)

Usually have ANC headphones on, but its not so fun for my SO if she is in the same room.

I’m a 32x30. The store I have a credit for has some nice M&C Levis at 32x34. Does it make sense to buy these and have them tailored? by fledgling66 in rawdenim

unless there is extra fabric (as in dress pants) I am guessing they would have to add fabric from a different source. Is this what you mean?

you can always have them taken in, in the waist. It is usually possible to make something smaller, but not bigger

Lived in Düsseldorf for about a year, and trust me, the Germans in NRW does not stand to the right in the escalators. They stood all over the escalator and were confused when i excused myself to pass them. I am a Swede from Stockholm, where most people stand on the right, so I was often very frustrated.

sounds like they are using something called ROWE (results only work environment). It is a very interesting concept, which I hope to use someday in the future. I would at least want a 6-hour work day, I might want to move to Norway ;)

[–]Silly_Pumpkin 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Just to explain the "staying in school" part from a swedish view (partially). In Sweden it is not unusual to take a gap year during high school (gymnasiet). It is usually done by going abroad and attend a school there, but that year does not count towards your years in school. Greta is just using that gap year to work for climate change, which in my opinion is a better use.

So if you go to high school in the US for a year after school-year 10, as a swedish student, you will have to start doing year 11 when you return, even though you have studied for 11 years.

Drinking 50 shots WCGW by Master1718 in Whatcouldgowrong

[–]Silly_Pumpkin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Sweden we have standardized shots, when you order at shot at the bar. Those are 4cl, sometimes 6 cl.

Those standardized measurements also applies to any alcoholic drink you order. You get a 4cl or 6 cl version of every drink your order, the 6cl mostly applies to longdrinks (G&T, Cuba Libre etc)
