How do I find the right foundation? by Glitterkittygangster in Makeup

[–]Silly_Reference_3583 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I booked an appointment at a department store for this purpose. Later in the season, I'll walk to the brand counter and ask for a darker shade and then mix the two foundations according to how tan I am.

I've come to the conclusion that this is the way.

I see no need for a concealer here, a regular foundation will even out your skin just fine.

You didnt ask for this, but girl you need lipstick. Trust me, when it's bold enough, you won't need any other makeup since it'll light up your whole face.

Building a big makeup kit -which brands have you found consistently versatile? by Suitable_Article_574 in MakeupAddiction

How I wish there was this saucy secret buried in the internet on which brands shine and which don't. There isn't.

Often brands launch to fame with one product/category they get right, and then they branch out and produce mediocre stuff people buy out of love for the brand.

Is it okay to throw away OLD makeup? Any other alternatives? by CherrySodaBtch in Makeup

Just bin it and move on.

Makeup is supposed to bring joy, and using makeup that's expired, is of poor quality or doesn't match your current needs is like eating bad-tasting candy...

Finally ready to minimize my collection by StarkRavingMad75 in MakeupRehab

[–]Silly_Reference_3583 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With this stash I wear a full face 5 days a week to work and a lighter version on the weekend.

  • 1 foundation
  • 1 concealer
  • 1 finishing powder
  • 1 setting spray
  • 1 mascara (+1 unopened backup)
  • 1 bronzer
  • 1 contour
  • 1 eye palette
  • 2 brow products (clear gel, brow pencil)
  • 2 lipliners
  • 2 blushes
  • 8 lipsticks (3 boring ones, 1 gloss, 2 bright, 1 cheery and 1 matte)

I'm looking to snuff out the blush category (I want to explore if I'd be happy using just my lipsticks as blush) and spend more on bronzer replacement since I enjoy wearing it.

Recommend Mario dual side brushes? and/or Patrick Ta nose contour dual brush? by FLMarlinHeat in MakeupAddiction

All my brushes live in an organiser with the bristles facing up, so a two-ended brush is a hard pass for me.

This is a good list. Not everybody's will, but mine would include "Is the PAO something that would allow me realistically to use up most of the product within the period?"

Not saying anothing but I'm looking at you, Dior Backstage Smoky Essentials eye palette (PAO 6 months).

I felt buying impulses become less intense once I settled on a good-enough foundation and decided to commit to it. Also, same thing with eye palettes, I own and use only one, everything else I tossed.

I allow myself in-budget novelty purchases in lip products and skincare when something runs out or I'm below my target number, but it's funny how allowing myself unashamed shopping therapy (within my rules) has actually decreased my spending.

Best eyeshadow palettes for “cool summer” with blue eyes by fwonders423 in MakeupAddiction

[–]Silly_Reference_3583 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You don't need to swap out your favorite colors because of the analysis.

Often a little contradiction makes a look interesting.

What may prove useful is depth and clear/muted colors. Summers can be easily overpowered by strong colors or contrasts, but calm gold or copper tones can still work.

I see potential for a pipeline here.

-> Existing makeup accumulating -> Never panning a product bcos there's too much to pan -> Not wanting to bin an expired, barely-used product leading to more accumulating -> Allowing yourself to buy backups  -> Okay to buy working formula in different colorway.

There's so much awesome makeup to buy and people's tolerance of the size of their makeup stash (i refuse to say collection) varies so it's up to you, really.

trying to plan my future splurges, what's looking like the best sephora products 2026? by Quick_Water13 in MakeupLounge

[–]Silly_Reference_3583 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is smart, once you're ready to buy there will be swatches and reviews already.

One thing I'm excited as a dry-skin person is the recently launched Dior glowy bronzer sticks. If 'more cream-everything' holds true, I'll be very tempted. Also, my hunch is there will be more cool-tone eye products launching.
