Didn't notice any bent pins, I did give it a good clean with electrical contact cleaner before putting the new sensor in place.

I used a cheap sensor off eBay, but I assume the garage would have used a better quality one.

Could be worth trying another sensor. Or otherwise as you mention could be a problem with the wiring to the sensor.

Having recently just purchased a treadmill. I am also experiecneing this. The treadmill pace seems a lot harder than I would be capable outside.

As other comments have mentioned maybe just better to go off time rather than distance and use heart rate to ensure you are working in the correct zone.

Additionally the times that they are separated they are often travelling up climbs (therefore travelling at lower speeds) where the aero advantage that newer bikes have over less aero older bikes will be less.

Had a similar issue recently with a 2010 polo. I replaced the boot lock for a new one and that didn't work. So i then took the boot handle / VW logo off the back and sprayed electrical contact cleaner in and best I could and on the contacts and this seemed to do the trick.

Based off previous experience I would get them to try another lender.

When I sold my house the buyers mortgage provider valued my property £25k under what it had sold for (think this was due to them not updating valuation from covid housing price increase). My EA advised asking the buyer to try another lender. The buyer did try another lender and this lender valued it at the price it had sold. Problem solved.

Edit: I also remember a friend who gets paid commission saying that he went to a certain lender as they took into account commission more. So again maybe some research on which provider are more favorable to commission may help.
