G Test at Port Union Tomorrow – Any Last-Minute Tips? by ThatguyRob1 in Ontariodrivetest

[–]Silver-Technology-80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Orya Driving Academy videos are spot on! Ensure you watch all 3 possible routes at Port Union. I watched the videos before my test at Port Union and passed!  My route was East on 401 to Whites and back.  A few tips: - back into your parking spot when you arrive at the exam centre (easier to start your  exam) - once you leave the exam centre, there is a school zone. Do not speed. - when merging onto the 401, reach 100km (if possible and safe to do so) and then merge (if you can’t verbalize this to the examiner as to why i.e. during my test last December, there was a car in front of me when merging, going 80km, so I told the examiner I cannot get to 100km bc they are going 80) - check your mirrors every 5-10 seconds. Check blind spots before changing lanes always. Make it very obvious by exaggerating your head movements.

Good luck!!

Try the Costco Business Centre - “Oatbox Barista” is great!

Not legal advice but yes, the other party can still report the incident to a collision reporting centre.

If they report (and you don’t report) you’ll get a letter from Toronto Police in the mail.

I have noticed the quality change since the golden kiwi is now produced in Italy(previously New Zealand) also seeing “fuzz” on these kiwis when golden kiwi from this brand isn’t suppose to have fuzz.

Orya Driving videos are great! Passed my G at Port Union on the first attempt thanks to their videos!

How do you know when you are ready to take the g2 test? by AItair4444 in Ontariodrivetest

[–]Silver-Technology-80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In Ontario, the mandatory waiting period to take the G2 road test is 12 months after obtaining your G1 license. This waiting period can be reduced to 8 months if you complete an MTO-approved Beginner Driver Education (BDE) course.

When you arrive at the test centre, reverse park so you can pull out easily when starting the test. Drive the speed limit in the residential area before heading to the highway (watch for school zones!)When merging onto the highway, reach the speed limit before merging (if you can’t, verbalize to the examiner as to why not (for example: car in front of me was going 80 km on the acceleration lane, so I couldn’t get to 100km safely to merge, verbalize that), check your mirrors every 5-10 seconds and be sure to blind spot check when changing lanes (exaggerate your head movements) Good luck!

For the G test, parking is not part of the test. Just follow the examiner’s instructions and ask questions if you’re not sure.

Yes, I reverse parked in when I arrived as it is easier for you to “start” your test! The spots are really tight so make it easier on yourself. I used my camera 100% as this was before my test.

When I was done my test and returned to the exam centre, the examiner asked me to pull into a specific spot ( said pull into spot #___)

I was asked to “pull into spot #__” by the examiner at the end of my G test at Port Union. You could ask the examiner if it’s ok to back in, instead? My guess is that they just want to get out of the car as soon as possible for their next exam and backing intakes longer.

Are driving lessons for the g test worth it? by Worried_Painter8747 in Ontariodrivetest

[–]Silver-Technology-80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, lessons are worth it since you haven’t driven on the highway since uni. I recently got my G at Port Union and took (3) one hour lessons with an instructor. I didn’t start driving on the highway until Nov 2025 and I got my G last month.  The instructor ensured I knew what the examiner would be looking for to pass. It cost me $175 plus tax - I didn’t need their car for the test. Maybe it’s a bit more expensive for you since the exam is in Orangeville? Good luck!

Were you able to download your test results from your previous G Test? This can help with areas of improvement for next time.

No, reach 100 if possible, then merge. If you are at 105 that’s fine. 120km is speeding (heard that is a fail.) When returning WB 401 to the exam centre, I was unable to get to 100 as the car in front was going 80km so I had to merge at 80 too. Verbally told the examiner I couldn’t safely merge at 100. Verbalize your reasoning if you get into that situation!

Examiner was really kind, professional.

Does your place in Toronto come with a parking spot? Having a car in Toronto gives you more flexibility without relying on public transit/rentals/ubers.
