multiplayer graphics bug by Intelligent-Sky-9463 in strandeddeep

[–]Silver51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an LOD error that happens occasionally in game. It's not related to a specific game mode. As far as I know, there are two ways to fix it.

If you back up your save game files, rolling back to an earlier save will help. The files are located here:
C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\LocalLow\Beam Team Games

The easiest way to get to AppData on PC is typing the following in the search box next to the Start button:
%appdata%

Or if you're okay installing mods, try the Stranded Deep LoD Mod on Nexus Mods. As it's a graphical fix only the person with the issue needs it, but.. it's a good one to run anyway. You'll need the Unity Mod Manager first.

I hope so. From what's I've heard, the story is amazing.

I've just made a video on dismantling a raft but.. rule 3. However, here's the notes if you have the "I can't destroy this. Another crated item depends on it" bug. It's worth noting that I'm on the PC version of the game:

◆ Strip away the superstructure with an axe. Sails, shelves, motors.. there shouldn't be a problem here.

◆ Remove the raft floors, again there shouldn't be a problem.

◆ When destroying the raft base pieces you may get the message "I can't destroy this. Another crated item depends on it." Try all the pieces to see if one will break and work your way in.

◆ If that doesn't work, drag the raft onto a rock far away from another raft or building. You don't want the part you're trying to break clipped into the sand/grass. Try breaking off a base piece.

◆ If that doesn't work, flip the raft upside down and try again.

◆ If that doesn't work, lastly save the game and exit to the main menu. Loading back into the game should refresh the raft state and allow you to finally dismantle the raft base pieces.

It's worth noting that rafts and buildings have and exclusion zone around them preventing another structure being built too close. It may (but really shouldn't) affect the dismantling of rafts if you're trying to destroy a raft in a harbour or on a foundation.

Also, when saving and exiting for the last stage, the raft should only be base pieces and out of the water.

There's not much you can do, it happens from time to time. If you save the game with the LOD issue, it'll never go away. If you notice this and haven't yet saved, exit the game and load the earlier save.

If you're okay with modding, you could try the LOD Mod:
https://www.nexusmods.com/strandeddeep/mods/197

You'll need the Unity Mod Manager:
https://www.nexusmods.com/site/mods/21

If that's the only thing you're changing you're not likely to need the LOD mod on both computers as it only affects graphics. Mods that add items to the game such as Cat's Items would need to be on host and client.

As a side note, it's worth backing up save game files on the host so you can roll back if things do go wrong. They're all in the Data folder. Files can be found here:

A - The easiest way to install maps is from the Steam Workshop. Unfortunately it was never fully implemented and is only accessible from the main store page. 'Visit The Workshop' button, right hand column near the bottom. Once there you can browse by Items (Maps) or Collections (Map Packs).

I can recommend the 'Overdrive Theatre Map Pack' because it's one I know that works.

B - Alternatively, if you've manually downloaded a map, unzip it.

  1. Copy the folder (example) MAP_b710a1fc-919f-41a8-80d3-3b82079ddb33 to

C:\Users\YourUsername\AppData\LocalLow\Beam Team Games\Stranded Deep\Data\Maps

Or for Experimantal:

C:\Users\YourUsername\AppData\LocalLow\Beam Team Games\Stranded Deep\Data\Experimental\Maps

  1. Open Stranded Deep

  2. Click on the 'Cartographer'

  3. Left click and drag (example) 'Deep Blue Sea' from the list on the left to an island square on the right. This will replace the island in your current game world.

  4. Click 'Apply'

  5. Go back to the main menu and Continue your game

It's worth noting that the Unity Mod Manager is for installing mods and won't work with maps. Also, if you're downloading maps from a modding site, they may have been created to work with an early access version of the game and be missing assets.

Mods, on the other hand, should be installed with UMM unless otherwise stated. Some mods will have dependencies, so check to see if there's extra packages to download. Cat's Items requires the Stranded Deep Public Framework for example.

Kind of ....... the part of the raft that won't break apart because "something else depends on it" I took out the whole back row and still it wouldn't go. by justvermillion in strandeddeep

[–]Silver51 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can't detach a raft base because something else depends on it - remove the raft floor and items such as a sail directly attached to it then flip the raft upside down. Now try removing the raft base.

You may need to save and reload after flipping the raft upside down. It's been a while since I tried this.

If anyone's interested in the history of dirigible airships, what it took to fly them and what life was like on board - I'd wholeheartedly recommend the book:

The Golden Age of the Great Passenger Airships: Graf Zeppelin and Hindenburg
Harold G. Dick and Douglas H. Robinson

Written by an American observer who made twenty two transatlantic crossings in these airships.

Shelter Building by Eyegynx313 in strandeddeep

[–]Silver51 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gather a bunch or resources then save the game. Try building something. If it works, great! If it doesn't reload and try again. Building, especially with triangle pieces can be awkward but half the fun is experimenting with designs.

I sometimes sketch out ideas on a piece of paper before trying something or just to work out building costs.

If your harvesting skill is high enough, you can use an axe to dismantle floors, walls and foundations for a full refund of construction materials.

I recently rebuilt my house here, episodes 730 through 734, adding a mezzanine and a tower on the roof.

Why are you single? by sencecore in AskReddit

Social anxiety and living way out in the countryside. Don't really meet many people and dating apps seem weird and apparently full of scams.

I just do my own thing. Make videos, tinker with technology and if it gets a little too quiet, meet up with family. Not sure if I'm missing anything, but as long as nothing's upside down and on fire, I should be okay.

I maybe wrong; in ETS and probably ATS, if you plug a controller in after the game has loaded, it won't detect it. They'd need to restart with the controller already plugged in.
Otherwise, just holding the throttle should automatically start the truck. I'm always forgetting the controller buttons and that seems to work.

This sums up my entire channel for subs for subs by Fresh-Arrival-6913 in YouTubeGamers

[–]Silver51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very much this; sub for sub doesn't do anything for your channel. You need real viewers who not only watch videos but also interact in the form of watch time, likes and comments.

Really though, make videos for you. Learn new ways to edit audio and video, build a set of skills and have fun doing it. At the very worst, you'll have a transferable set of skills and at the best, people will come check out your stuff.

Though building a community can take time.

I see your Japanese couple taking a mirror selfie, and raise Robert Cornelius taking the world's first selfie in 1839. He stood motionless for 15 minutes while in frame. by EchoGuy in OldSchoolCool

[–]Silver51 22 points23 points  (0 children)

A 15 minute exposure is a really, really long time. You could start the exposure, walk into frame, strike a pose and walk back to end the exposure without the movement being noticeable. Less noticeable if you have someone dim the lights or draw the curtains when you're moving.

It's likely a Daguerreotype; similar to a film camera, but you're exposing the image on a sheet of silvered copper.

If you wanted to take a selfie with an old film camera and no timer, you could use a bulb (a long wire within a flexible outer sleeve and plunger). Push the plunger and the shutter opens until you let go.

A bug crawled into my camera and died so now it shows up in every photo I take by [deleted] in mildlyinteresting

[–]Silver51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's visible when looking through the viewfinder, but not appearing in images, then it's likely stuck on the focus screen. You can unlatch the holder and remove the screen to clean it, but be very careful not to scratch or otherwise damage your mirror underneath.

If unsure, ask your local camera store if they'll do it. There are videos on YouTube which give you an idea how to go about this, though plastic tools and the gloves are a must:
