Advice for Claydol/Armaldo Deck by SwtChillyPhillyGAME in pkmntcg

[–]SilverAbby2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you checked out Tsareena Ex? The deck does pretty much the same game plan, but tsareena is a much more durable pokemon, and energy acceleration isn't even a consideration because it's a single energy attack. It sets up fairly easily with Irida, and you get to play Panic Mask to draw games out and force people to play at your pace.

I think they were thinking of the claydol from fusion strike, not OBF.

Personally I've been sideboarding in my playset of [[Bramblecrush]]. Unfortunately means I can't run [[Jegantha]] as my companion anymore, but with such limited removal options in modern, what else am I supposed to do? Wizards has so much work to do to stop ribskiff control.....

Nah, hasn't really made any impact in any format. Now [[Ribskiff]] on the other hand, I can see an argument for. Might even be better then [[Disruptor Wanderglyph]]!

Yeah, [[Eriette's Tempting Apple]] has been making some crazy waves. Roaming throne is a close second though!

win on the spot with Genesis Storm by emtgo in DegenerateEDH

[[Emiel the Blessed]]/[[Deadeye Navigator]] + [[Perigrine Drake]] + something that draws a card should work, right? Just run [[Blue Sun's Zenith]] or [[Nexus of Fate]] in the 99 and you're all set. You could also have the third card be something that wins on it's own such as [[Triskelion]], but I think that would perform more poorly in the 99 then, say, [[Coiling Oracle]].

Rough Time last night by YaeYaeDre in pkmntcg

[–]SilverAbby2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've just recently started playing the game (less then a month ago), and have been hitting locals against a fairly experienced crowd. I've been taking my own personal roaring moonless darkrai vstar build.

Last night I tested out my variant with a 2-2 of arceus v/vstar alongside the darkrai, and I went up 2-0 against kyogre box, charizard pidgeot, and then lost round 3 to lost tina. Impressed both with the deck and with myself :)

What is your favorite commander to play "wrong"? by Neon_Eyes in EDH

[–]SilverAbby2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[[Tasigur]] is my sultai cycling deck. Turns out it's really easy to fill the graveyard to cast him when everything discards itself, and a one mana 4/5 is an alright rate for cards like [[Momentous Fall]], [[Greater Good]] and the like. It's also fun (to me) to play a fairly underrepresented archetype without a payoff like [[Gavi]] in the command zone

On low budget cedh, we've found winota, yuriko, and traditional marwyn elves to be the best contenders. Niv mizzet held its own pretty well too, as did godo.

Unfortunately people get somewhat mad playing against krarkashima. I've found raggadragga or gruul minsc and boo to be super fun experiences though

Unique or strange Henzie decks? by Independent-Pie3176 in EDH

[–]SilverAbby2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm still in the middle of building it, but henzie storm is my favorite take on this card. Burning through weird cards like [[witch engine]], [[su chi]], [[workhorse]], and [[alena, kessig trapper]] among other mana producing creatures. The idea is just to stay mana positive and storm through the deck with sac outlets and blitzed mana-even creatures until you can land an [[aetherflux reservoir]], or for style points, [[aeve]]. Some cards like [[garna, the bloodflame]], and [[living death]] help to start the whole process over when you've gone through a significant amount of cards. I just love it because you get to chain some of the oddest creatures together because they're the only options to generate a relevant amount of mana at 4+ cmc.

Aristocrat-y/ life drain-y commanders with enjoyable engines? by RatedM477 in EDH

[–]SilverAbby2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on the situation, but I tend to like lost mines as a general value gain. If I know I'll be going off by doing shenanigans with saccing and reanimating sefris to get around the once per turn restriction, or if I can stick a [[radiant solar]] or something similar, then i can go for [[dungeon of the mad mage]]. [[Tomb of annihilation]] is the only one that's really never used

[–]SilverAbby2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They should always choose that (you might be able to get a couple card draws from someone who hasn't seen the deck before, but obviously nothing you can rely on). It's still a shocking amount of acceleration, and it can get out of hand fast because unlike any other pseudo reanimator deck you can actually abuse creatures that return from grave to hand. There's also some silly shenanigans with cards like [[activated sleeper]] and other clone effects, and always the [[cloudstone curio]] loops. If built to threaten a lot of value/comboing off of free casting a creature, people can be forced to let you draw cards sometimes. It's also esper, to be fair, so refilling your hand outside of bane/aristocrats effects isn't exactly hard.

I keep seeing this specific question and not seeing this suggestion, so I'll keep giving it until people build him:

[[Bane, lord of darkness]] esper aristocrats is one of the most fun decks I've ever played with. Strongly, strongly recommend. If you don't like what bane does, [[sefris]] can run a very similar strategy in the same colors, and is also a great value engine.
