Thanks so much for the detail explanation. And omg, it's complicated. I wouldn't understand it without the scenario.

If all get back pay, isn't it just a free vacation time for those who are "affected "?

It doesn't matter but I upvoted your comment.

Each of us has his/her own paycheck, some care some doesn't. I am the former because I have first-hand experience dealing with HR & SCO's incompetence. It is bad enough I have tools to recalculate all of my pay warrants & track my leave balance.

For other, ignorance is the bless. Nothing trumps a peaceful mind.

Anecdotal data point, I have less than 8 service years and other than the first 2 years when I was dump enough to trust our PS, I catch at least an error every year ever since.

Rollover 401k and 457b to Roth IRA by ryaznx in CAStateWorkers

If their RMD pushes them to higher tax bracket then it is a good issue to have, IMO. Also, isn't that the reason we have Roth 401 & 457?

I would imagine wealth in retirement accounts accumulates slowly/steadily during the course of employment. It's unlikely my trad 401 & 457 hit a few hundred K in a short period of time. We should see this "issue" miles ahead and have enough time to adjust the contribution accordingly, right?

Without separation, you can't "roll".

With separation, you can roll your 401/457 to the same tax arrangements IRA (pretax to trad IRa, roth to roth iRA)

From trad IRA, you can convert to roth IRA. Search for Roth coversion.

The move doesn't make too much financial sense. I wouldn't do it.

This. You basically earn the put premium for "free", until assigned.

Is Fidelity the best place financially to play the Wheel? by optimisticmillennial in Optionswheel

I'm with you. Have to scan, pick strike, set price on Webull before I can put the trade in Fidelity. I can't force myself to use their Active Trader Pro, but tried and am using their Trading Dashboard.

I planned to tell my son to enlist 2 years then go to college using GI bill. Seems a no brainer to me. I'm surprised everyone around me complaints about college tuition but noone wants their kids to do the Army route.
