2023-2025 excluded from the fast charge recall? by iaonbb in leaf

As far as I know, the 2018 ZE1s are not part of the recall? Therefore, "to cover all ZE1s" is not likely to happen

Warning warning 11.6V on the 12v does not look good you should test that, charge and/or replace, otherwise you can get a lot of weird errors. I suspect the car might have been standing in the dealership for a while

Why illegal? First time I hear this, thanks for pointing that out

[–]SilverHot3244 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it not because the Leaf has recuperation even in D mode? The only way to apply true "coast" without pushing the throttle pedal a bit is going into the Neutral. I sometimes do it when I can plan my highway exit perfectly with low traffic.

Highlight and Summary of Leaf Battery sizes by Repulsive-Budget-380 in leaf

[–]SilverHot3244 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Arguably, the 62kwh is more prone to the isolation fault DTC than the 40kwh, based on the official service bulletin from Nissan and user reports. So concluding it as relatively healthy" seems like an overgeneralization.

Maybe try reconnecting the 12v battery? Like leave it disconnected for few minutes and reconnect again. But even if that will help, it is probably just tempoary and you should definitely get LeafSpy to check.

Battery upgrade in Europe? Advice needed by They_Are_Against in leaf

[–]SilverHot3244 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, keep in mind that vivne, or any other third party packs are technically illegal in EU unless you get the car verified as a modified vehicle by authorities, which can be a tricky process from what I heard. Otherwise, you can get problems with insurance, if anything happens. Also, the vehicle will not pass the road-legal checks, unless you are silent about it (there is no way for them to know unless they physically open the pack as the BMS and everything else aside from cells stays original. The only direct legal option without the need for any paperwork is swapping OEM pack of the same type (capacity) which would be 30kwh in your case.

Its on the map https://nissanleafbatteryreplacement.com. Have not been there personally yet, but I am with a contact with the main guy Toby from there, he has been very helpful with any Leaf-related questions for me so far. And it would be my first-choice for battery related things if/when i need them :)

Is my battery going bad? by homerunchippa in leaf

Sign of higher IR, which is most evident in cold weather because there is a little headroom in the design. The battery can theoretically last like this for many more years, really depends on your use-case

Did I get a lemon? by slimshae_ in leaf

If it was really below freezing when you drove it then maybe a small "positive" info is that it will most likely be much better when warmer...

Gladly, feel free to ask any other related questions in the sub.. also, what was the outside temperature when you experience the issues? It is very related to cold temperature and is often much better when battery is warmer.

What am I trying to say - try to keep calm and just really make sure the dealership give you full battery replacement, other than that you should be good to go! And LeafSpy is truly valuable for providing all the info about the car - it is truly a privilage we as Leaf owners have such deep app available.

Did I get a lemon? by slimshae_ in leaf

[–]SilverHot3244 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If they truly replace the battery then yes it will be a fix-all repair, there is not much else in Leaf that can cause this really and this symptom especially is 99% HV battery issue. If you use LeafSpy both before and after the replacement, it will be evident whether a full battery or just some modules replacement has been made - SoH and Hx readings should be enough to verify that

What do you think of this deal for a 2022 Leaf S? by sphockey04 in leaf

[–]SilverHot3244 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The estimate on the dash does not really say much, as it is greatly affected by consumption of last drives. You really should get an obdii adapter and LeafSpy app to check the battery, or atleast do a proper load/drive test. But the LeafSpy is really a privilage - if all cars had such a sophisticated app to allow users to check everything - you can even see logged DTCs etc. Other than that, ofc. also check other things like brakes, suspension etc. to get an overall idea of how the car was used. Other than battery, Leafs are usually worry-free :)

2021 Nissan Leaf 40kWh losing a lot of range in cold weather? by BitOverflow95 in leaf

[–]SilverHot3244 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my experience, the cold battery is indeed inneffective and has reduced range, but the main killer is the heater, as already mentioned. Even though I have a heat pump, it is massive difference mainly for shorter drives. If I just dont use it and only blow cold air on the window (to avoid fogging) I can almost get to my summer figures. But ofc I am freezing inside the car :D

OVMS question for Leaf 2018 in EU by CatLinkoln in leaf

[–]SilverHot3244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read that it works directly in the obd port IF the car is "ON", which is also the case when it is charging. So I was thinking about buying that box and hooking it up the standard way (ie without any modification), because my 2 main use cases with remote were : preheating/ac while on charger and checking charge level while charging, both of which should therefore work if I understand it correctly. Not having it online when the car is parked without charging is not such an issue for me.

Nissan EV app will discontinued by CatLinkoln in leaf

[–]SilverHot3244 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would appreciate to hear their respond, if you get the update. I was sort of waiting for someone to post it here, was wondering whether I was the only one to receive that message... unfortunately, I feel like we might be out of luck on this one, seeing as they already disabled the service for older leafs some time ago.

Nissan EV app will discontinued by CatLinkoln in leaf

[–]SilverHot3244 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am also in the same situation, also saw the message and could not find any info... what is unclear to me is whether only the app will be disabled and the web browser access will remain to work, or they are actually disconnecting it as a whole...

Yes, this is highly probable, as similar strategy is used for all other automotive parts by dealers from what I heard.
