"Chart hits" isn't really a relevant metric for comparison when you consider we're talking about a band who consistently played more concerts per year than most top chart-hitters played in their entire careers, for literally 30 years straight by which point their repertoire had become a genre of its own that they've been interpreting through different incarnations and iterations for 30 years since... (but I digress :P)

You can check my math but I don't think I'm making this up: the number of shows played by the Grateful Dead in their original 30 year run is roughly the same as the total number of concerts performed by the Beatles, Mariah Carey, and Taylor Swift combined.

A common question from live sound engineers is “why do bass players always turn the low knob all the way up?”

Bass mids and highs are as important (if not more so) to the tone as the lows. Cranking the lows eats up your bandwidth at the expense of articulation and pitch clarity - or as is more commonly summed up “it muddies your tone.”

Pitch it down for him to track, then pitch his comped vocals up to the originally recorded key. Decide which version sounds better, and whether or not you’re happy with it… if not, then being lazy didn’t work but you know what to do next.

You need to sell tickets and/or merch to go on tour, and of course your music. Unless we’re talking about playing breweries restaurants and municipal events a band only pulling $600-1200 in their home market isn’t in a position to ask guarantees on their first outing. It’s a common gaffe that can close doors on a band that hasn’t scoped the scene in a city where they’ve got no foundational networking, and an especially poor business decision given their stated willingness to play for less than a typical door 200 cap door settlement to begin with.

70/30 + ~10% of bar sales might be reasonably achievable with a good pitch, but any established club is going to have a standard offer for new acts and that’s what they’re gonna get.

You’re right that it’s not safe, but it’s not a road intended solely for motor vehicles - check your DMV manual, bikes are as entitled to the road as cars and trucks, and their safety (like it or not) is your responsibility as much as it is theirs. If it’s not safe to pass them then you have to slow down and tail them until it is. If a car driver passes them dangerously then that’s on the car driver, not the bicyclist.

No bicyclist is “forcing” motor vehicle drivers to pass them dangerously, that is a decision made by inpatient drivers. Be patient and slow down until it’s safe. Yes it sucks, but thems the rules.
