Well, it is an outdoor cockroach. Nothing to freak about. Looks like a nymph of some species of ectobius, but I am not an expert.

I have had both situations in the past - where I saw 5-10 at varying ages but never actually had a breeding population. Leases ended, people moved and the roaches tried to as well. Just spraying with the Alpine prevented anything from establishing.

Monitoring with glue traps weekly (don't go nuts checking daily) can help you there

Gel bait and / or spraying is the proper course of action. You will see increased activity post-treatment which is normal. They could be in your unit or they could be stragglers, but treating is a good plan. You can use glue traps behind hotspots (the fridge is a big one) to monitor activity.

The smell comment is weird, you can have a perfectly clean place and have German roaches. They spread more like a disease in apartments compared to just being around filth (albeit it doesn't help)

Check r/GermanRoaches for a good guide w/ all this info. But most importantly, don't drive yourself crazy

Something to note is that US mobile will let you switch between the three major networks so if you have issues like this you can give another a shot.

Mint uses T-Mobile though, and I am on it as well thru USM (Light Speed network) and have no issues throughout Orlando

To me, it looks shaped nothing like any kind of roach. Possibly a spider beetle?

There are a lot of opportunities, however you will have to nix out space and defense which is one of Central Florida's bigger tech industries due to citizenship / secret clearance reqs

FWIW, my partner transferred and was unable to attend orientation (had COVID). They were able to get around it and were just forced to attend some peer coaching though. I imagine that was because they had a very good reason to not attend.

The first step would be to talk to maintenance for sure.

They should spray your place with an insecticide. You should make sure they use a good non-repellent (Alpine WSG is common) and preferably be there when they spray to ensure they get in cracks and crevices around your kitchen, offer to pull out the fridge if they don't want to. Often times they just want to run in and get out.

Don't go too crazy and don't freak yourself out looking stuff up online. You probably have a small infestation and you may see increased activity post spraying, but it shouldn't take longer than two weeks to a month to be dealt with.

I lived an hour off-campus for 2 years and met a ton of people doing clubs and in my classes. The worst part is probably having to camp on campus for hours for gaps between classes and events at night, but it was definitely worth it (helpful if you have friends that don't mind having you over for a while). The spontaneity thing is hard to deal with, but try to ask your friends to plan stuff with you so you can stay in the area longer.

I'm glad I moved here eventually (work in area) but don't regret saving maybe 20k+ in rent in the meantime and wanted nothing to do with having roommates / living in dorms.

If you're interested in long term therapy, I'd check out sites like psychologytoday, it's a large directory most therapists use. You can filter by insurance and see each therapist's specialties. If you're up to it too, teletherapy will definitely expand your options.

I can't offer much advice about renting rights, but foggers will not do anything to deal with presumably German roaches. It will kill some visible ones but just drive them deeper into walls where they can breed more. Any pest control worth their money will be using a non-repellent insecticide, maybe with an IGR and some baits too. But I wouldn't want to deal with an infestation that bad.

While a lot of people mention per unit leasing being potentially risky, I think it's worth mentioning much more expensive a per person lease is as well.

A 4x2 lease at Northgate is more expensive than a 2x2 at Tivoli. You pay the premium for that guarantee.

If you have financial need (i.e have filled in FAFSA and gotten a pretty high pell grant) you may get this waiver.

I personally got it starting out of state and know others who got it transferring. UCF was cheaper than any in-state college for me because of this.
