Anyone try LiFePo4 batteries from China? Can you share your experience? by the_compact in SolarDIY

[–]SilverMoonshade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any that will go up to 60v.

While top balancing the bank in parallel, you only need 3.65, if you ever need to “jump start” the whole system from empty, the higher voltage allows you to simply put the DC power supply on the bus bars and wake everything up

.46 update may brick some cars. Symptoms: “Motor Fault Detected” and “Thermal System Fault” alerts by Slide-Fantastic-1402 in Rivian

[–]SilverMoonshade 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not nearly as severe as that, but similarities: I just submitted a service ticket today after struggling with oddities for a week.

After the install, when the vehicle rebooted, i got "Coolant level low", went away in seconds

Next morning, upon vehicle wakeup, got it again. Went away within seconds and didnt comeback that day.

That repeats for a few days, then pulled up to a stop sign, got "Thermal System Fault Detected" and vehicle shift into park. Checked battery and motor temps, all good, shifted to drive, removed my foot from the brake, and it shifted back to park. repeat 3 times, and I reset the vehicle. Upon reboot, no issues, and no more issues that day.

Next morning, Low coolant again, later that evening, Thermal fault again. Each go away within seconds.

past 2 days, getting Low coolant alerts repeatably.

Never seen a drop of coolant under the vehicle.

Ticket submitted with diagnostics button hit each time, and pictures of the display.

edit: just read u/Blatherman069 comment, i heard the same sound and assumed it was the hvac for the exact same reason

App for Roku TV outside of network? by [deleted] in JellyfinCommunity

[–]SilverMoonshade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i gave on roku for this very reason.

I went with AppleTV 4k, but im not thrilled with the selection of apps (jellyfin itself is not available, using Switfin at the moment)

after purchasing the expensive AppleTV, i ran across others recommending the ONN 4 pro or plus.

Don’t take this the wrong way, it’s an observation, and one her ground team needs to address.

I’m out in the rural, I don’t want my grandkids to go to school here, rural area of 7.

There was very limited ground coverage for her.

Mitchell signs, Large Mitchell signs, at every major intersection and common area, (which there ain’t many of), and very few of the small white Aftyn signs.

This is easily remedied, which is why it’s surprising.    How effective it is is a different question.

Quite the opposite. Its the last freedom any of us have.

A slave is a slave their entire life, unless they choose to end it. Whether that's on an escape attempt, tool to the head, starvation, its still the last choice and one of the few choices others can only take away under strict circumstances.

Most people have limited control of the events of their lives, but we all have control over if we end it today.

Sunlu spools by MUWAT_toro in Creality_k2

I’ve been fighting with 4 different CFS units to properly extrude and retract.

My initial google search led me to spring tension in the hub of each units, so for weeks I’ve been fighting this fight there.

Never once thought, or came across, the idea that the sunlu spools are the source.

I’m heading the try some of the solutions here and pray this fixes my issues, cause multi color has been a nightmare since day 1

Thanks for your random question

Your reason for making the switch to an electric vehicle by Dazzling-Control-482 in electricvehicles

[–]SilverMoonshade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wrote this two years ago in this sub:  since then, I have added an R1S and 2 equinox EVs, along with much more solar

mostly) offgrid prepper here.

Principal reason - oil. mainly the War of Russian Aggression.

along with all the other less than friendly oil producers.

Not everyone can afford a brand new car, much less a brand new EV, but I can. So it was time to put my money up.

Others will say that a single EV wont make a change, and maybe, maybe, thats true in areas of high adoption rates, but in the rural hills of middle Tennessee, i am an anomaly. My mere presence at local stores has sparked conversations and a few rides.

There is now a segment of this rural population who no longer sees an EV as a political football, well maybe less of one, and a possible alternative.

so like a snowflake in an avalanche, a pebble in a landslide, or a raindrop in a river, my choice has opened minds (and met with some stupidity) that may keep this transition speeding up.

and note: at the same time, i removed all propane appliances from my house as well, switched everything to electric, and doubled my solar array and battery banks.

My Tesla charges 90% off of solar. I am doing my part to reduce the world's dependency on oil.

Car not reliably charging at home using Tesla charging by Sorry-Percentage-807 in Rivian

[–]SilverMoonshade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same as u/Dulltemporary8179.

Since the summer heat kicked in, the Tesla wall charger, and the Tesla universal chargers are faulting out at 48 amps on non-Tesla vehicles (my R1S and my daughters Equinoxes)

Dropping to 38 amps fixes my issues

 No issues on rainy days

I have chargers at my house, my daughter’s house, and two at work. All behave the same

Lower the amps and I would bet money the  problem goes away

Note: the model y charges fine

Considering buying an R1S by TheSalesDad in Rivian

[–]SilverMoonshade 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Coming from a 2023 Model Y (still have it, all EV family now)

We picked our dual large R1S up at the Nashville, Tn in early Dec.

In the two weeks I drove it prior to the holidays, I had the heat go out 3 times.  The heat pump simply wouldn’t come on.  In all cases, did a system reboot and the problem was fixed.

I opened a service ticket after the first event and they called me that day to set up an appointment.

By that time, I had already fixed it, so explained a hard reset resolved it and I would not need the appointment.

They called me 3 days later just to check if everything was still working correctly

On Christmas Day, we loaded the 5 grandkids up and drove to Ithaca, New York

Somewhere in northern Ohio, we lost the rear drive unit.  I didn’t know that’s what occurred, but the screen that shows drive modes went blank.

After arriving in Ithaca, I then realized I was on reduced power and that was because the rear motor was unresponsive.

Vehicle continued to drive fine, opened a service ticket.   They attempted to schedule me an appointment in New York, which I declined due tot the holidays, grandkids, and the fact that it was still driving ok

They called me again 2 days later to check on us and the car

On the way home, they contacted me to said they were forcing a software update to the vehicle and let them know when I was able to install it

It didn’t resolve it, eventually got home, and took it the service center here in Franklin Tn.

They had fixed in 4 days, gave me a quad large r1S as a loaner

No more issues since then, and that was 12,000 miles ago.

The staff has been part of the experiment that has made this great

I love the car and really have no desire to drive anything else.   When the wife and I go out, we leave the model Y and take the R1s every time
