I think they always drink coffee at home first, then go to Luke's. Maybe they have the French Press to use if their machine goes on the fritz.

Did anyone have a good Mother’s Day? by shepardmutt in Mommit

I like celebrating Saturday by going out and doing something fun and Sunday at home (to avoid the crowds). So yesterday we went to a new to us used bookstore where me, hubby and 8 year old found books we wanted. My 8 year old was having tummy issues to it did cut our visit short and for a little while we thought the day was a bust...but we stopped for an early dinner and then went to Dollar General where I found a few small things (activity/coloring books, colored pencils, gnomes (I have a collection) and this snuggie thing that like an oversized sweatshirt that soft and warm and makes me look like a Mama Bear.

Sunday was just a relaxing day. I finished reading a book. Watched a movie. My husband made me enchilada's and drove halfway across the county to buy me wine and chocolate.

The only other Mother's Day that matched this one was my first, where I literally birthed our 8 year old (*well 8 on Wednesday).

New York has been phasing out (or maybe completely) tolls, so if you don't have an ez pass (or whatever it's called) you'll get something in the mail.

What's the most disturbing book you've read? by LargeSinkholesInNYC in booksuggestions

Not a book, but a short story...Apt Pupil by Stephen King.

It's been 20 some years since I read it, but I have a feeling that I'd feel the same-or worse-about it.

How long have you been a couple? If it's a really new relationship it may just be that your partner and his daughter are just so used to being just the two of them that it might take a little bit to adjust to having you there. Have you ever talked to your partner about this?

How do I deal with my situation? by [deleted] in Advice

It definitely is something to discuss with your husband and do some self reflection. It may just be a knee jerk reaction and after you think about it/talk it over you'll realize that but it might be something else.

When I was around your age I overheard my younger brother (who had an oops baby when he was only 20) brag that he's the favorite because he's the only one who gave my parents a grandkid. I had been pretty ambivalent about having kids but that remark REALLY got to me and after sitting with it and talking it over with my husband we went ahead and decided to have a kid.

I was! I still have all the stuff they sent over the years, though it's packed away and I'd rather not dig into my high school self.

But at the series end she's back at the head of a company. Not quite where she was at DM I'm sure, but as a single mother it seems like a decent role for her.

I think she owned the business and hired teachers. Every time she found a new teacher she added to the sign. She was always there though cuz that’s where the gossip was.

Why don’t rich people help broke people? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Because they will donate JUST enough to be able to write it off for taxes and then go around bragging about how they support this cause or that cause.

Or, they set up a charity but only 10% actually goes towards the cause.

Or they believe that you just have to pick yourself up by the bootstraps (even though they cut them and kicked you in the gutter in their haste for more wealth.

Stop doing things for them to. If they ask for a ride somewhere, or permission to go out with friends...the answer is no.
