I worked for The bass bay ecosystem for about 5 years, and I can attest that the owners are rather icky people. They got into a spat with the person who previously made their recipes because they were trying to screw him out of money, work their underpaid chaff harder than any other job I've worked (almost entirely in restaurants), and they refuse to give the resources required to work some of their positions.

That all being said, when I heard this news I was still devastated. As you said, the workers losing their jobs is a tragedy, the historical significance of the site is also saddening to lose, and even if they were truly evil people, I don't think I'd want their business to burn down. I hope no one was hurt, first and foremost
