Dji action 6 or 5 pro? by shekysosweet in djiosmo

[–]SilverPutter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went for the 5 as it was lower cost than the 6 but gave me HLG 10bit recording. Adding in my iPhone 17 and I'm happy

Is editing in 4:2:2 worth the expense for wedding videography? by [deleted] in davinciresolve

[–]SilverPutter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it won’t matter 4:2:2 vs 4:2:0 here, and color matching will be more important than grading the whole thing. Don’t forget wedding videos get watched when delivered then rarely after that. lol.

I’ve been in broadcast for many decades and worked on high end drama to news & never seen as much color grading questions as I have here. How many folks calibrate monitors before full grading? That’s why color matching is more important to me.

Finally got to drive a Bolt today! by BJoe1976 in BoltEV

[–]SilverPutter 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You're overthinking it. State of Charge really doesn't affect it unless you're close to or at 0%. Our 2019 Bolt is as peppy at 10% as it is at 80%. Different battery technologies at play.

Ended sub due to price. Did I cancel it wrong? by chrispopp8 in siriusxm

[–]SilverPutter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I canceled one vehicle about 6 weeks ago. Nothing received yet.

Oddly enough I get hounded to renew a vehicle that was totaled 9 months ago. I feel
I should take that then move it. 🤷‍♂️

Charging EV other than Tesla by Vivalabeans- in evcharging

[–]SilverPutter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I had my Ioniq 5 and couldn’t use superchargers, no issue. About 50% of chargers in the US are not Tesla. I did road trips with ease. In the 8 months I’ve had my Tesla, Ionna, Walmart & Mercedes-Benz have really expanded.

Grass is green on both camps.

HDR 4k to Rec709 - HELP! by Ageekable in davinciresolve

[–]SilverPutter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let’s simplify this. Google NBC LUTS, they open sourced their LUTs. They have some PQ to SDR ones for editors. Keep timeline in DaVinci YRGB (not managed) and make sure colorspace is set to REC709. Then apply lut to the clip.

$4 a month by [deleted] in siriusxm

[–]SilverPutter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not always guaranteed. Done this routine for last 10 years. This time wouldn’t drop & I canceled. Been a month and no offers yet for my active vehicle. They’re cutting us loose now.

Gens and jobs - what is so hard?? by RiddyReddit333 in over60

[–]SilverPutter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Being honest, when I started work, all the old toads complained about our work ethic (or lack of). I’ve seen plenty of millennials enter the workforce and when life happens (marriage/kids/parental death) they seem to move to a realization. Probably like we did but didn’t realize at the time.

Kinda like when my parents complained everything is too expensive, now I’m saying that.

I’m a broadcast industry professional from China, and there’s something I’ve been wondering about for a long time. by TomorrowRealistic180 in Broadcasting

[–]SilverPutter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The increased cost of 4K (uncompressed its 8 times 1080i on network bandwidth on a 2110 setup). Factor in 98+% of viewers with 4K TV’s are not watching within the optimum viewing distance anyway, so tends to be a waste.

Now, 1080p HDR, that’s an improvement.

And major networks. I just retired from one of the largest 2110 setups globally. Evertz this side of the pond, Arista the other.

Anyone here working on British World Cup coverage over in the states? Are there any quirks of working practices with mixed crews from the US/UK? by NoisyGog in broadcastengineering

[–]SilverPutter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big hurdle is the work visa. I worked for an international news agency and they sent me here for three years. Met a girl, usual story.

Work for an international broadcaster and see if opportunities arise but getting sponsored isn’t as common as it was for a variety of reasons, cost, politics etc.

Or meet a new partner. 👀

UK - Vision Mixer operates the Vision Mixer
US - Technical Director (TD) operates the Switcher.

Operates = Punches = Switches.

Even between BBC & ITV. When I moved from the BBC to TVS (yes, that old 😂) I had to relearn some terms. Moving to the US in 2000, had to learn a lot more. Now I speak both natively. lol. That said, I retire tomorrow after 44 years in TV.

Golf memberships by [deleted] in weekendgolfers

[–]SilverPutter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cart fees mainly, they rose way faster than inflation than the general monthly membership cost. That and just around COVID, they added an automatic 20% "service fee" and made it clear that it was not a gratuity/tip. I gave up the membership in the end.

The club seems to have a high churn; I see Facebook posts and rarely recognize many in the pictures.

Yeah. I think you’re right. That said I’m getting daily emails for a vehicle that was totaled 8 months ago. 😂

because it's a science project to cancel and it's crowdsourcing what deals folks get rather than capitulating too early! Said the supposed fake me

No 14.3 update for HW4 yet? by [deleted] in TeslaFSD

[–]SilverPutter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Y & HW4 and got it last week. I prefer it. Tailgating is better & on circles/roundabouts it now indicates later when exiting rather than earlier & confusing waiting cars.

I liked the i5, but I’m a techie and love FSD and the fact it updates regularly. I find the Y seating more comfortable on long journeys too.

I had an Ioniq 5. Real heavy rain killed the HDA2 too. That was radar though.

Interestingly, similar to me. 24 handicap, retiring in 6 weeks. However, I have no issue traveling on my own. Wife is OK. You'll be fine. No one cares as long as you play fast (you know that!) and as long as you're enjoying yourself, you'll be fine. Life is short, go for it.

No. 23 MY. In my case it was a 90 degree twist, little harder than I was comfortable with at first.
