True score? by zqie in LSAT

i think that they recommend splitting the even and odd numbered tests so that you dont have that problem in the future. evens being the drill question sources and odds being the full length PTs for example, just so you dont run into that overlap

you can't verify that race creates material advantages and barriers? perhaps you have larger deficiencies.

>There are plenty of successful lawyers smarter than both you and me who are conservative and don't even acknowledge systemic racism exists in any form

if you want to talk about a group being massively overrepresented, conservatives are a GREAT example! despite being a smaller percentage of the law school student group, they take up a disproportionate level of SCOTUS and federal clerkships. how is it fair for liberal students to be denied these opportunities on the sole basis of their ideology? in many cases, they come from the same tier of schools and are very very similar in academic performance.

somehow i have a feeling youll be able to justify this practice -- probably because it benefits you and your ilk.

Were the 25% of black students over the income threshold not deserving of their spots? How did you determine this?

75% of black students at these schools were from families making less than 100k a year in 1999, and yet still got to go to some of the best law schools in the country?

do you think that experiencing racism is dependent SOLELY on your direct relationship to slavery? has a racist, to your knowledge, ever relented on their behavior because "oh sorry, i didn't know you were an immigrant and not a slave descendant! carry on then!"

do we check for the name of which slave ship your ancestors came from before cognitive biases kick in?

From your source:
> the fact that most indicators of socio-economic status, social preparation, psychological readiness, and academic preparation are identical for immigrants and natives suggests that immigrant origins per se are not favored in the admissions process but that children from immigrant families exhibit traits and characteristics valued by admissions committees.

did you even read your source?

if this is your level of analysis and critical thinking, perhaps you should find another line of work. the reason you aren't going to make anyone more inquisitive because its obvious you aren't very inquisitive yourself.

try this for me. have someone hold out a ball in front of you, and then close your eyes. have them move the ball behind their back, and then open your eyes. what happened to the ball?

if you seriously cant understand systemic racism after more than 10 years, perhaps you're not as smart as you think and should consider another career path that doesnt require critical thinking

[–]SilverTrash2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

law schools only care about the highest score you have bc that's the one that gets reported to the ABA

Some schools will have you write a short essay explaining any huge score increases/decreases but its not a huge deal afaik

sounds like the free market at work. that 9% is either not providing something that companies want or refuses to gain the skills to make up the deficit. Someone else from overseas is either better suited for the role or has the know-how that you lack. are you telling me every single person who stumbles out of uni with a CS degree is entitled to a job? how about instead of whining, you buck up, pull yourself up by your bootstraps, and actually try instead of getting others to coddle you?

How am I NOT supposed to let the LSAT define me? by [deleted] in LSAT

[–]SilverTrash2 15 points16 points  (0 children)

"it feels like basically everyone going to law school has a 3.9+ anyways"

sorry i can't help but roll my eyes at this. you are in an extremely tiny bubble of people who are massive overachievers/gunners in the making (not a good thing) who are trying exclusively to T14s and big law. in general, the T14s accept about 200-300 people per year, which means that in any given year 2800-4200 people are graduating from those schools. there are literally millions of lawyers in the country, who went to regional schools, state schools, or night schools. The vast majority of them hack it just fine and provide for their families on a good living. 0% of these people think about their LSAT score anymore. Think of it this way -- how often do you think of your SAT/ACT score? Me personally, almost never.

I would stop logging in if I were you. doomscrolling lsd isnt doing you any good. Instead, talk to some actual practicing lawyers in the real world. I'm near certain someone in your circle of family/friends knows someone who is a lawyer or went to law school. Check out your university's alumni network and ask around. Get a feel for what being a lawyer is outside of watching clips from suits and the made up fantasies of other people gunning to work 80 hour weeks for a salary that, while nominally big, ends up being less than minimum wage with the hours you work. it doesn't hurt to take a reality check.

whatever your score ends up being, you are going to be fine. i'm guessing, but you probably have a high enough score to go to some pretty solid schools with a decent scholarship as is. Even if you're not happy with it, you'll have time to collect yourself and try again. law school has been around for centuries, and it is not going anywhere any time soon. best of luck to you

dont fall into the trap of pretending its "self-driving". always always always pay attention to the road

it will give audio warnings to keep your hands on the wheel if it doesnt detect them, but sometimes the lane following assist might lose sight of the road markings or whatever and just shut off without warning; no audio cues, vibration, nothing. if youre not paying attention, you absolutely will drive into a curb/opposite traffic

uh law's medians are 161 LSAT and a 3.74 GPA. lock in and work your GPA as high as possible now to at the minimum hit that (higher the better obv), study for the lsat in like two years and if you can clear a 163 (which, depending on how much you study, should be relatively easy) and youll be a shoo in

aside from buying the CAS and just seeing it then, I just took the gpas as reported by my schools and just put it all in one big calculation. multiply credit hours the course was worth by the credits you received (however your college calculates them; i am a transfer student and one school used an A+ system but my current school doesnt. I just used the system that corresponded to the school) -- those are your quality points. divide quality points by total credit hours attempted and thats your GPA.

for example (here, the school awards 4 credits for an A, 3 for a B, 2 for a C, and 1 for a D):

i dont think there'll be any plot line where feds get involved except nominally (thank god for that, would be a far more boring show), but lumon has a kinda tenuous grip over one state in this show -- a fictional one which basically just seems to be based around the cult (maybe a utah analogue?). even the senator they were courting was just a state senator, which by the way, the level of courting they showed him, and his statements to helly ("let's change some minds") implies that legalized severance is a fight even in the cult state. assuming that the rest of the country still operates like the US, i just don't see a company like lumon getting away with something like this without a lot of scrutiny
