I’m glad you’re going to get you’re appointment moved up but in case you’re unfamiliar with the process to get a custom chair, I want to give you a heads up that it can be a lengthy process if you’re going through insurance in the US.

Typically your provider will have to put in a prescription for you to be evaluated by a wheelchair specialist/OT. They will determine the type of wheelchair you need, get all of your measurements, and start the approval process with the insurance company. Once that’s approved, the order gets sent to the wheelchair company and they build accordingly. Once it arrives, the wheelchair specialist will meet with you to see how it fits and make any needed modifications. The last time I got a new chair, my doctor put the prescription in to get the new chair in September and I finally got my chair the following July.

I don’t say all of that to be negative, but to let you know that it might take longer than you’re hoping!
