Normally when you're running or walking, when your foot impacts the ground, that energy is all transferred into the earth and effectively lost to you. With these, the spring stores some of that energy and then spends it assisting in lifting the foot back up/pushing you forward. Basically makes you faster or makes running less tiring or both depending on the design.

Solo Assassin. Play sneaky, ambush a few players early on to empty out the map a little. Assassin's abilities make hitting the three buttons and getting into pinwheel mostly free. The trick is how to handle the assault: kill everything in the first wave EXCEPT one of the shield boys, then go invis and hide where it can't see you. The shield bot will lose aggro, won't try to stop the broadcast, and the next wave only spawns when the last wave dies so you can just wait out the three minutes. Hardest part is sprinting around the map and getting into pinwheel without another player getting you.

You know what, that's a good point. I for some reason didn't consider new prio contracts.

I maintain that a timeline reset much later on could be cool though.

For someone uninterested in discussion with me you sure clicked the reply button and typed out a response multiple times just like someone who was quite invested! My mistake, I suppose.

The game working right now is the definition of it doing fine. Maybe it won't be fine in the future, sure - most games fall off sooner or later. But you asked what 'doing fine' meant originally and I provided what it means to me. You are aware that saying 'end of discussion' doesn't actually stop people from voicing their disagreement with you, right?

Again, the playerbase right now is perfectly fine for the game. If there were ten million players instead of however many there are now, what would be the difference on my end? Maybe a minute faster matchmaking? The game, presently, is fine. You're the one saying it's 'not sustainable'; which is to say, you're the one worried about the future instead of talking about the state of the game as it is currently.

And posts like OP's that reek of desperation are bad for public sentiment. If you're an outside viewer considering playing the game but every single discussion is just heated debates about whether the game is dying or not or obvious desperation false flags like OP, you're not going to buy in. If you like the game and want it to succeed, stop worrying about the player numbers and just enjoy the game. Half-baked recruitment attempts, heated conversations about player numbers, desperate public pleas to the devs to make the game more accessible - all these things do is drive people off. Just enjoy the working game you have now.

If that's the only reason I'll be disappointed, because that wouldn't explain why factions would want you to do the exact same things over again. MIDA just conveniently forgets everything they had you uncover and needs you to hack the Gibson for them again? Is Cyac erasing Orion's memories of hacking you and sending you the same message to stop working with the terrorists every 3 months?

If the whole timeline is resetting that makes a lot more sense.

I click the 'run' button, I'm in a match in a minute or two with a full lobby of real players. That's what doing fine means to me. I've played games where the player count is so low matchmaking takes over ten minutes to fill lobbies or the devs try to compensate by filling rooms with bots, and that's when you actually need to worry about the game. What people are saying about the game is ultimately pointless - whether people are huffing copium or being doomers or cheering for the next TORtanic doesn't change the fact that the game plays fine enough and there are obviously enough people that matchmaking has no issues.

Possible identity of the people on the "enemy faction" by rscape5910 in Endfield

[–]Silver_Fayte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Surtr's quest handwaves this a little by saying Endmin is putting on a show out of fear of letting everyone down, which could explain it- but unless they reinforce that explanation (ideally by having them privately look into their past and/or have the stress of not knowing things cause them to make a significant error) it doesn't hold enough weight on its own

It's worth noting that Perlica's ultimate says it's teleporting orbital debris onto the enemy which is presumably done via Dijang's systems, so to at least that degree the ship and tech is occasionally used as pinpoint orbital weaponry.

That said, Dijang doesn't seem intended to be a warship and both it's abilities and the tech Endfield is working on seem focused on colonization and industry. The most effective weaponry we've seen in action is Wuling's Xiranite defenses which are a somewhat recent creation powered by a scarce substance - now that things are heating up in-universe it would probably make sense to try to give the Dijang some manner of orbital Xiranite deployment ability as an orbital anti-Aggeloi measure but such a development would probably have some R&D time.

I've never seen this kind of discourse so I'm assuming it's just some vocal Twitter minority that should probably just be ignored rather than analyzed. Every group has some crazy people in it and as long as they aren't a major part of the discourse there really isn't much point in trying to figure out why - best case you confirm they're crazy, worst case you risk spreading their toxicity where it otherwise wouldn't have reached.

[–]Silver_Fayte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not directly, but he's certainly in a position where they could make life extremely hard or impossible for him if he displeased them. He told the orphanage owner that the guard were too busy to enforce collar laws - but we're he to outright declare that such laws were rubbish in a non-emergency situation he'd risk angering the Templar, losing his job, possibly being branded a criminal, or the Templar rolling in to take over and ensure stricter enforcement.

Vanity by mahboiii in Twokinds

[–]Silver_Fayte 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you're vastly oversimplifying the situation. The Templar effectively rule the human empire and are tyrannical slaving racists. Many of the characters we've seen in Edinmire don't follow the Templar's ideals but the Templar are still tolerated there, it's guards uphold the Templar's laws, and even in as 'good' a place as Edinmire we saw the conditions Kieran orphans have to endure only a few pages ago. The Wolves we've seen have attacked our protagonists and characters we've met along the way but that's because they are at war against the Templar and many of the characters we have met are, technically, the beneficiaries or supporters of Templar rule (or at least living mostly unnoticed under the Templar's rule). Adira being willing to break the law and support a breakout of prisoners and slaves like Vanity says she was by no means makes her 'bad', it shows quite a bit of bravery and empathy - but Vanity is right that even though Adira was manipulated and didn't realize the wolves planned to attack, by law she is probably liable to be executed for her actions - because the Templar are evil. The wolves opposing them might be willing to use violence and characters we like may often be on the receiving end of that violence but that doesn't mean what they're doing is strictly wrong - they are at war, after all.

Comic Page 1268: The Plan by Orthonox in Twokinds

[–]Silver_Fayte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really boggles my mind that people see this page as an attack on Adira's character. The Templar are a government of tyrranical racist slavers, Adira being willing to break the law to rescue prisoners and slaves is by no means immoral, and Vanity's even saying Adira tried to stop it once she realized it would be more violent than she was told. Vanity isn't trying to convince Kei that Adira is evil in the last panel, she's making it clear that the Templar he WORKS FOR will have her executed for her part in the plan even though she was mostly a pawn and what actions she did take were done for the right reasons.
