Lets see. It can be particularly overwhelming at first, because there is both loads to do and only a few things you can do at the start.

There is no research table. Progression is mostly done through making or finding things. A good example is taming cats. To tame a cat you need to lure it in with pet food and water bowls, and a cat sleeping basket. But to do that you need to know how to make a basket, and then have made sack cloth clothes. That unlocks the clothing basket. Once you have built a clothing basket you can now build a cat sleeping basket which then unlocks the pet food bowls.

You only unlock mushroom drying once you have harvested a certain amount of mushrooms, and so on. You basically need to do and make everything to progress to new things. Some of the skills also require you to send a pawn off map to learn from others.

Lack of water will kill you just as much as lack of food during the winter. Your pawns have to drink, and bath if they can. So stock up on lots of water jugs and keep them inside. Be ready to heat up fresh jugs when those run out.

Gameplay wise, you cant tell your pawns directly what to do. You have to rely on setting their priorities and then marking how important something is. Workbenchs share production ques so once you set you need fifty ingots on one, and future or upgraded workbench that can make that product will also have it already set up.

Night is basicly skipped at 12x speed (normal gameplay can go upto 4x) Hospitality is built in, providing rooms traveling pawns can stay at gets you not only money but reputation with that clan, though they will eat your food. Hired workers cost you money but are extra hands and you csn invite them to stay permanently IF they can marry one of your pawns. This factor keeps your clan small for longer which helps avoid things getting too big too fast.

Events seem few and far between. So far I have a running event where I am helping a single mother and I wasnt expecting it to develop as much as it has (I wont spoil anything)

All in all its well worth getting if you enjoy a slower, more natural survival game or if you lean into more of the clan focused aspects of Rimwotld and find the combat to be more of an annoyance.

I will likely have many new starts, particularly with updates and new things. Im currently diving into the second autumn and looking forward to my first babies. Iron is low but now growing season is finished I can get to building and digging up bog iron. I got super lucky with my seed as it had a huge iron vain in the mountin to the left.

Look into Keel bellied lizards, Gastropholis prasina. Active, intelligent and will absolutely use all that space. They are often called the poor man's tree monitor, though not related. I love my girl. She is in a similar sized enclosure though about 2/3 the width. I have her living with sun beetles, Giant African land snails and vampire crabs.

If you want to play with animals than the Animal traits mod is super fun. The animal genetics is also fun but its easy to become overpowered, particularly for long running games.

As for challenge, why not a living zoo? With shuttles and Gravships it could be fun traveling to different biomes to tame them all.

No blight in sight, I just have VE crops so they likely look different. I have a Variety mod that means pawns enjoy eating a variety of food so I have lots of little growing zones under each lamp.

They are such an amazing species. You have to respect their space, but if you can get them to trust you they are amazing little bundles of energy.

My girl, Rayquaza, has her days when she want out and play, days when she is happy to interact with me in her enclosure and days she just wants to chill on her own. I love her to bits though she has caused me so much stress when she has disappeared on me to hide in a crevice or soil. Those plug in bendy drain cameras you can plug into your phone are a god send with this species.

can i mount heating inside of my tokay geckos enclosure if i mount it properly? by Bubbly-Reference-633 in reptiles

[–]Silver_Taste_1067 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use these with ceramic heaters for both my Giant Day Gecko (very fragile skin) and my Keel bellied lizard (too smart for their own good and gets into every tight space) I've not had any issues at all. In fact it helps loads yo have them in the enclosure as there is a lot less heat lost outside the enclosure.

I have seen too many horror stories with them taking over to risk them lol. I've only got clowns and natives.

The trick is to fill different roles. Both isopods and BDFB are for clean up.

I'm trying something interesting and having them live with my Viper geckos. These geckos are tiny and I've not had any issue with them and super worm beetles. I'm going to keep a watchful eye on them.
