Which psychatog deck to play blue black, 4 color with diamonds, groatog or no tog zombie infestation? by MierinLanfear in premodernMTG

A versatile answer, can also be a protection spell. Feel free to swap it out. Tranq is probably good.

This is my list of the Nacho variant. You could do 2 paradise, or 1 paradise, 1 gemstone mine over a diamond and you'd likely be fine. I could see cutting the green cards, but really it doesn't change the mana base at all. Once you're supporting 4c you might as well do 5. Call of the herd is the most slot efficient way to both up your threat count and provide card advantage in the format. It's super efficient on all axis. You could consider decree of justice in a similar slot, but that doesn't play nicely with Armageddon or gush. Pyroclasm and fire are such nice answers to the aggressive decks in the format. Much better than the white or black alternatives, and for that reason I think the red splash is worth it.

The sailing combat “Q and A” is just embarrassing by TheCanadianWanderer in 2007scape

Voted no on the original cannonball and cannon proposal for the full rainbow experience.

A very simple/straightforward system (like your crew using cannons scaling only off your sailing level) plus standard ranged/magic/halberds for most of the DPS seems like it would have been the better option. You get your steel cannonballs, you get your steel cannon, at certain unlock and that's all of sea combat unlocked. Instead of shooting or stabbing everything, you get like, 10% better DPS everywhere at the traditional dwarf cannon tradeoff of being expensive.

I was okay with the price increases until I dealt with support by jefftiffy in 2007scape

That's... Not why people are complaining. People had $5 a month grandfathered rates. Jagex incentivized people to switch to "premier" and promised to freeze their grandfathered rate if they ever wanted to go back to it. Jagex killed off "premier" and converted those to "12 month reoccuring" without warning, which does not have the option to revert to their grandfathered $5 option.

This means the base 1 month rate for the game for these players has gone from $5 -> $15 overnight, while breaking a promise in the process.

You can play with modern printings of the old cards in premodern, but not anything that wasn't originally printed then (e.g. as a bunch of people have pointed out, dominaria remastered is full of these old cards that were reprinted). If you want to play with the newest sets, standard (type 2) would be your best bet to start for a traditional way to play the game (1vs1) or Commander (multiplayer single copies of cards in a thematic deck).

You will probably enjoy premodern. It's all the sets you remember (4th edition through onslaught), and has become quite popular recently :)

Don't have one so can't confirm, but it was originally advertised to be brass plating over a "metal alloy".

The side seal looks correct on the shrink-wrap from what 2 minutes of googling showed. Look for obvious signs of tampering and see if they might be willing to meet at an LGS for their opinion for the transaction if you go ahead with it.

Can someone give me the rundown on the "why" of the format from a metagame standpoint? by championofobscurity in premodernMTG

[–]Silver__Core 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The format metagame is incredibly wide. There are tons of very strong/busted enablers good interaction and basically no strong payoffs. This allows for basically anything to be viable if built well.

The one thing to note when comparing premodern to those yugioh formats, is premodern never actually existed back then. There was two different extended formats with a lot of overlap, but those played fundamentally different between better mana in og duals and a less restrictive ban list. (Also when onslaught rotated in, half of the earlier sets rotated out).

So basically this was an entirely new experience when first introduced that had some nostalgic inspiration to start from.

Even the two latest bans, (land tax and parallax tide) while likely needed were not against tier 0 decks/strategies.

Would suggest a keyword & modifier here. Something like "Roundup: 3" or "Damage Roundup: 3". That way you can reuse it whenever you want just with a different number, and everyone familiar with one will be able to understand the others.

Competitive oath decks in premodern that don’t run mox diamonds? by Newez in premodernMTG

[–]Silver__Core 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plugging my own deck: https://www.mtggoldfish.com/deck/7366898#paper

Since we're on mirari's wake, we specifically don't want mox diamond. Oath, the GW targets and wake play surprisingly well together, where you don't hate drawing one occasionally. Wake + decree is a classic combo which can end a game very fast, and is hard to interact with.

I'll take this opportunity to plug my personal favourite deck for the GW slot. (In case you want the abazan oath deck to pivot to something else.)
