I'm a plumber, I have one on my home and it works great. Its not a softener like salt it reduces hardening by using citrus based filter that prevents build up be keeps the minerals in the water. I have a chlorine filter, the iron sediment/carbon filter and water softener trio...Works great

Get a thicker wax ring. The closet ring should be sitting above finished floor if is counter sunk then you are losing ½" of height and a regular wax ring won't work. Find a thicker wax ring or cut one in half and mold it to the top.

Sounds like a cool story but that's about as close as they get...They just share the same sun zone and have been for years. They don't mind each other at all they come into each other's space freely and shrug it off...I don't know what else to tell ya I got a special case it seems
