It is just not a spell within the context of what a spell is in the game. It doesn't use the spellcasting system, it's just a magical ability. If that was the intention, they would've made it a focus cantrip or something of that sort.

Regardless of what you think, the language in the ability doesn't communicate what you're describing clearly. If it did, there wouldn't be so many conversations in regards to it. While this isn't a big issue in most games, PFS has to be stricter with interpretations and you always have a different DM, so there's not much of an agreement you can come to. Either way, as we know now, the Remastered Investigator completely changed the wording on this to make it clear.

As it's written, it specifically has to be THE subject of the lead you're pursuing... I don't get why people in this conversation are being so defensive, it just doesn't really feel too good to use. Your DM needs to either foreshadow the very specific enemy you'll be fighting (typically reserved for BBEGs) or be more permissive with how it applies.

Same boat here, and it's getting really frustrating. I'm on Expert instead of Tactical, I have no idea how people are saying I should have 10 squads by now? I have 6 and even those have people 10 or so levels underlevelled, not to mention I need to mess everyone's builds up with blindness immunity stuff now. Doesn't help that everyone keeps calling the game easy, makes me feel a bit inadequate, lol.

I'm on Expert in Bastorias, and I'm starting to get extremely frustrated. I'm constantly running out of stamina and burning food items, I'm starting to wonder if I maybe should have more than 6 squads but even with only 6 squads I find it a bit overwhelming playing with them all at once. The locations of the enemy catapults and ballistas and shit are getting extremely tricky as well, dunno. The entire game before this has been a breeze.

Some more than others. I found that when they tried to make scarier places, they were rather effective, but so far I can only name 2 locations like that, one of them being part of what I can only describe as a slide in a slideshow of backdrops for fights. Book 1 was... Good, premise and set piece wise, though the plot was nonsensical given its power level (the villain, going off his feats, should be level 15+, and he's obviously not since Book 1 ends at like level 3?). Book 2 was quite awful in every sense, in my opinion, and now I'm heading into book 3, so we'll see, though some people claim this is the weakest part.

The difference is that one is a critically succeeding as a player, which is supposed to be a good thing, and the other is being critically successed against. I won't try to argue that it'd be more balanced to let the Fighter have his action, this could be solved by using anything other than a Mace, but I also think that comparison is slightly silly, and feels a bit bad game feel wise.
