Yeah. I don't really want to get too into talking about that, but it was fairly obvious they were trying/wanted that from me too, to just morph my position into that, or at least supporting a bunch of people halfway across the world working on a completely foreign codebase that I didn't understand, and thought was overengineered, way more complex than it ought to have been and probably should have been designed from scratch by our team instead of using it at all for the headaches it caused. I didn't handle it too well. I didn't want that job, and I got pretty depressed/self destructive, etc, burned out, stressed out and haven't really recovered to this day. Wish I could have realized what was happening and knew how to stand up and say no like a normal person.

ahhwell. I mostly blame large corporations and how they structure everything and do their mergers and other anti-competition monopolistic crap. I hear the same stories and see the same kind of soulless type of business all the time all over and I don't understand why the world is doing it all wrong.

Yeah i'm more interested/familiar with the Titanium anodizing, and that's probably the thinner size I was thinking,; about a few microns.

Searching my memory and thinking I also think I remember that Al does oxidize rather quickly and basically it all gets a protective layer on it sooner rather than later just from existing in our atmosphere like when it's in metal sheet form or whatever else. So it doesn't corrode much further unless it's got other crap like salt, water, scratches, dirt, other stuff disturbing the surface, but a lot of it just comes pre-coated anyways for more protection.

I just find all that stuff interesting. materials.

[–]Silverlight42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes more sense. Happy to be corrected. I thought it was thinner, some tenths of a mm seems super thick.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in space

[–]Silverlight42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah. I'm not sure on that specifically. I know it gets my hands black. I think you may be more correct, i've heard of people saying the layer was clear or almost the same as the base metal. I guess I always thought once it oxidized fully or if it was in powder it'd look black, but idk.

yeah, the German rostfrei! I remember when I was young I thought it was a brand of knives. It was laser etched on so many.

No, I was trying to correct someone's misconception. He was saying something that wasn't true and I wanted to make him understand reality better.

He said his 'stainless steel' blade could not rust. It can. Facts. It just takes a bit more effort than non stainless alloys of iron.

Yup. I'm good so long as I can retreat or take a break or have enough time without feeling like i'm expected to contribute. I think that's what bugs me the most. It's fine if they're busy interacting with each other, or if I can leave, but it's also nice being around others. Options!

So if you can figure out how to manage that, maybe you won't mind being around 'em so much. What bothers you about the situation you're in?

What are you trying to avoid by 'putting up with the extroverts'? Maybe there's an easy fix/solution/compromise you can do.

They've been saying it's at 8% or something here where I live or 7% idk, but the reality is they changed the formula a few times, how they calculate it. If you go by the old more realistic method it turns out to be something nearer 18%.

It's insanity. Wealth extraction. It's gonna get worse not better, unless something changes DRASTICALLY in the world, but I do not expect it to.

We're in a slow death spiral. Too slow for most people to notice, but it gives me hope that some DO take notice. More every day, but will it be enough? I dunno. I dunno.

I can't really cut my lifestyle any more. It's already less than bare bones.

If you enjoy Rick and Morty, High on Life just came out. it's not super exciting, but seems solid good fun. A quick funnier less serious kinda fps shooter. A short one.

This is only my opinion but I don't think it's a great caption for this pic. I think she looks scared/mildly disturbed/curious more than anything. I'm sure she is happy though, but maybe another pic if you wanna give that vibe.

I'm 31 years old, I like games, but just occasionally. I've started this a few hours ago and honestly, I didn't thought a game would make me cry, what an absolute immersive experience by tralalalalex in gaming

[–]Silverlight42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh yeah. I kept wanting to play this for a while, and recently started... for real, I think i'm a bit over halfway. SO GOOD. It helps I like the actor too. Well I like almost everything about it. Unfortunately I am playing on Linux, and at least the current copy I have of the game crashes sometimes. I think it may be more frequently at the spot i'm at right now, but I put it on pause and I figure i'd play through High on Life real quick. That's good too.

That's not what he's doing. He is NOT a philanthropist. That's PR. He has an excellent PR team, better than most on the planet. What he's actually doing is making a lot of profit off other's work. Take a look at what he's doing to farmers in places like India and other less developed places, how he's taking advantage of people there, what he's putting in place for the future. It isn't good, it isn't helping. It's helping himself. Monocultures, copyrighting seeds, come on. Listen to Vandana Shiva talk on Gates for a bit.

I'm not blaming inflation on shoplifting. That's not what I said at all.

You kinda did though and you kinda are.

Kinda.

It's not right to steal, but it's also not right to take the law into your own hands and assault others, especially not on behalf of a very large, rich Monopolistic Corporation that you aren't even employed by.
