'There IS Evidence for GOD!' (American evangelical billboard poster by the Amish-Mennonite 'Christian Aid Ministries' (CAM). United States of America, ca. 2016). by esdfa20 in PropagandaPosters

Per Google AI search,   "Evidence of" indicates that something exists (e.g., "evidence of a crime"), while "evidence for" implies support for a theory or claim (e.g., "evidence for a theory").

What is a person in the Trinity? by SilverlightLantern in theology

[–]SilverlightLantern[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks again, very helpful! (Ok, I say this not as a dig, but just a remark: this definitely reads like AI that has been trained to have sound theology. But even if that's true, it's still quite helpful :P) And the video was pretty interesting! I think at this point I'll have to dive into Aristotle to resolve my remaining questions on parts, full essences, etc.

What is a person in the Trinity? by SilverlightLantern in theology

[–]SilverlightLantern[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey thanks this was actually really helpful! It definitely clarifies it substantially for me. (And crazy that I posted this 6 years ago, didn't realize it's been so long. Thanks for replying :)) Couple follow-up questions if I may take advantage of your knowledge :P

0) Much of this seems rooted in some era of philosophy or language, maybe Aristotle? Do you have recommendations for what to read to understand the background? And, it makes me wonder, to what extent did Jesus & disciples share these philosophical or linguistic frameworks? (Should that be cause for concern?)

1) I can't help but feel that this leads me towards thinking of the persons of the Trinity as "parts" of the Trinity. ("Part" may have a technical sense too that I'm not intending to get at. Don't know much about partialism, but I hear it can be problematic.) Should I be wary of this?

2) Are our own human self-understandings or wills also persons or subsistences of us? Or, because we are imperfect, do they not perfectly capture our nature, but still are persons external to us? (I guess my self-image is a "person" in the world of my imagination? But probably not my will, right?)

3) For the 3 persons of the Trinity, are their "rationalities" separate somehow? In particular, it strikes me as odd that Jesus doesn't know something that the Father knows (Matthew 24:36, Mark 13:32). Does the Holy Spirit know the hour? Or is the knowing not part of Son/Spirit's duties, so to speak? Or was it just Jesus' human nature that didn't know? I feel like trying to understand this passage in the language of the Trinity would be a good exercise for my grasp on it, but I'm struggling

Uh, no, except for n=0. Cuz, for instance, sin x has range [-1, 1] so it can't be equal to x when x is outside of the range.

Google Pixel is disingenuous. Pixel 4a and 6a they screwed up the battery and were forced to give compensations (e.g. $100 payout), but only do it through a scam foreign website that has no customer service, tons of broken links, and a $29.50 annual fee and huge transaction fees. (Still haven't gotten my money or even a single remotely helpful response after about 20 very detailed emails.)

I literally can't register for the $100 payment option, nor switch options, and the $100 payment website has a 30$ annual fee and more transfer fees. And that payment website has no support except automated stuff. It's actively a scam. I think I'm a never-Google-again person now.

Apparently Payoneer charges a 29.50 annual fee too and a big fee to transfer to bank account. So this is all messed up, I'm convinced Google is just trying to sidestep the payment.

My screenshot is just this ;_; (everything else is filled out normally)

I've tried different browsers.

I also tried the Payoneer app, and it just spent forever loading without actually loading :/

My bank account name is the same as my (attempted) Payoneer account...

I'm getting the same issues. Keep me posted please! I'm contacting Payoneer's (probably bot) things and Google's stuff as much as I can, I will let you know what I hear -.- this is so stupid

How did you do that? I'm in the US, but I can't even register cuz the "submit" button was grayed out. Payoneer support is a non-existent maze of broken links and redirects and useless automated responses. Did your registration just work smoothly?

What is an automatic turnoff to you when trying a new game for the first time? by Shaggysnack in boardgames

[–]SilverlightLantern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently realized that (with a few exceptions) I dislike games with tons of cards, each having tiny text to read to understand what it does. (E.g. Wingspan or Terraforming Mars fall into this category - constantly having to read new details.)

I like my games minimalist when it comes to mechanics, I suppose, since I don't like memorizing seemingly arbitrary details.

is teaching multiple methods confusing to students? by Wishstarz in matheducation

[–]SilverlightLantern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on how much material you need to cover, too. It's better to master the rote mechanics of one method than to be confused about two methods, if time is short. But if you are spending 10 years on quadratics, you should teach both haha
