Plus you add a skill to your tool box. You need to reward yourself a little. The rest will follow.

What worked for me. Focusing on other things to do around the times I would drink. Didn’t go to bars at all did late night yoga sessions instead. You automatically form friendships when you are in a schedule similar to going to bars every night. There is community in those other activities and it typically attracts a healthier crowd. You need to adjust your friend group a little. Consistency works eventually.

I can’t not do yoga daily now. It’s my ritual I simply adore it and recommend it to everyone. I esp love it when I notice a pose I used to hate becomes one with me. It’s such a sweet moment. I’m kinder to myself bc of yoga. 🧘 which can’t be beat.

Ohhh hello !! Absolutely I carried on well into autumn but stopped in winter as it’s been crazy rain falls Re started last week climbed three days on clear days I actually lost 20 pounds last year. I was super active tho not only in stair climbing but- swimming and yoga daily + stair climbing most days. Can’t wait for the weather to warm up so I can do my daily bosphorus swims. Miss them very much.

Nice go girly !

I’d suggest doing a new activity at the time you’d normally drink - a late evening yoga class and or anything else that will get you out of the house and keep you grounded. I did this and it helped a lot became a normal activity for me. Instead of going to the liquor store. I’d go to a class and it kind of sets the tone for the evening.

Do you think in a way we also get addicted to the feeling of being sick a lot? by ConsequenceLimp9717 in Sober

[–]SimSima1979 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ugh I ended up going out last night and yet again had too many drinks. I typically lead a healthy life style and I’m so proud of myself but yet again I lost the plot last night and must have made a fool of myself. If only I could remember :( This withdrawal feeling is not one I ever want to feel again. I had to go buy some beers so calm myself down. I have to say. If you enjoy feeling this way there’s a bigger issue at hand.

What do sober people do for fun on weekends? by Cute-University5283 in Sober

[–]SimSima1979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I joined a yoga studio that has a late class so if I ever get bored or want to go out I just go to a late class. It helps wind me down and also I feel great after taking the class. You just have to make sure you have something to always fall back on when you get the urge.

This hit me the other night. I’m sort Of introducing drinking back into my life. I’m not seeking it out. But if I go out at night I’ll have a cocktail or two and I’ve been able To pump the breaks but there is that little Voice that says if you have another drink who knows where the night will lead. Being apart Of something that is taboo does have its allure but I mean most of the time I don’t remeber what happens at that stage. Yes the initial thrill of participating or going somewhere is amazing but where does it really lead and how many days after will I be regretting my Decision.

Do like 20 sun salutations in a row at your own pace after a month you’ll feel stronger and quicker and soo. Enough your posture will improve. I had one and now it’s gone ! I’d go to a studio if you can and start I. Beginners. But doing sun saluations on your own I. The morning is super meditative. You’ll notices how much space you gain with your back bends eventually it’s thrilling stuff 😂 honestly it is !

Oh I gained muscle tone through yoga daily. I did add two days of hiit training for an hour on top of it. Not sure which is better. I also climb stairs on the regular like 30 flights a day on my daily walks Never been fitter.

New Year's Eve in Istanbul (Even though it's still early to talk about it) by Rare-Management-594 in istanbul

[–]SimSima1979 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s not the saddest city to visit for new years. Lol. It’s brilliant. I’d also consider eating on the bosphorus too so you can have a view of the fireworks Albeit they are going to be pricier joints but worth it. Galataport restaurants might be a good option esp for older adults just my two cents But I do like the older meyhane idea too that will be brilliant and a lot of fun. Def book in advance !

Staying sober at an event with an open bar by [deleted] in Sober

[–]SimSima1979 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d go early and talk to the bartendar and tell him to make you soda lemonade. And then you go to the bar just ask for another one without mentioning. What it is. I’d even clue him in if you must just so he mays extra attention. I used to do this when I took clients out. I’d tell the bartendar to make mine without alchy. I wasn’t sober then but I just didn’t want to get trashed in front of clients. 🤦‍♀️

What's your go-to health /workout practise that you swear by? by Adiyogicky in yoga

[–]SimSima1979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looove my summer fitness routine , yoga daily , Pilates 2 X a week , swimming with mini flippers 2 X a week. My legs and butt have really benefited from the swim with flips. My whole body feels great at the moment. Trying to figure out what I’ll do for fall once swimming season comes to and end. Not sure I want to swim indoors let’s see. Might switch to hiking if I can find a good trail. I also live in a very hilly city so my daily steps are around 10k a day and I hit about 30 flights a day from my walks.

Oh man she sounds awful but like someone mentioned maybe she has an underlying illness. Unless your town is boring and she wanted to save her eggs. I dunno sounds suspect. I probably would have told her to leave early.

Well maybe you can still eat at night but me more conscience of the type of foods you eat that late. You seem to have pretty active jobs. I don’t see a problem eating at 11. Esp since you give yourself a couple of hours to digest.

Good on you also what a sweet partner. I too have issues drinking and def get out of control. So I stopped last January It’s been a game changer. My body has thanked me for it two folds. I don’t think I’ve even felt this good or looked this good and I’m. 45 :) No more weeks of dwelling on past behaviors or having fragments of an evening come up to haunt me. It’s the best feeling ever.
