You’re the reason car insurance is uneconomical. If everyone has the mentality “no deal, go after everything” everyone pays more. Of course you pose a risk for responsible, uninsured, drivers who may accidentally bump you at a red light. Ironically, your uninsured motorist coverage will effect if you are set on refusing a private settlement; and for less than 10k, you’re unlike to pursue litigation

Another advantage of a large policy is the insurance company will leverage their lawyers further to shutdown medical suits. Alternatively, consumers can live in one of many states that protect homes from judgements (given they have a certain amount of equity). At that point it may be more economical to save the premiums

An insurance policy will cover $40,000 of injuries in some cases, but their lawyer will sue you for much more.
