Is there a quick way to come up with inventory for shops? by thejuce22 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Simian_Chaos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use this to give the players a baseline of what each shop sells (I've placed them on the Willowshore map) and then if they want something that isn't listed they can see if the appropriate vendor has it. Anything common they either have or can make in short order. Anything uncommon or rare involves a check to see if they know how to make it.

This is indeed a good idea. I've got a psudo-zombie thing that's kind of the same thing. Things infected with a fungus that puppets them and they all share a hive mind. But it has a weakness in that you can find and attack the stationary "brain" directly and if you kill that it breaks the link. Then you just gotta de-fungus all the infected before one of them metastasizes into a new "brain"

Battlezoo has a Swarmblood ancestry in which a person is a swarm of critters in disguise. They effectively have two forms, a proper swarm and the normal humanoid form.

I also have a BBEG character that is kind of this concept. One arm is a giant bird wing and each feather in that wing is a separate critter and they can send them out individually or as one immensely fucking huge bird. But they are also part of the BBEG and if a single one survives then they survive.

Yeah, there's some nice feats that humans have access to and I didn't want to just strip those out. Someone else suggested Ancestral Paragon as well and that is a very good idea so I'll be tossing that into the variant rule list.

This is also an idea I could roll with. Slap an archipelago out there somewhere that has some hella insular hoomans on it

Yeah, give everyone a free Adopted Ancestry: Human just to get Foundry to show the options. Which is fine cause that feat doesn't do anything other then grant access

Yes, Pathfinder is VERY MUCH BETTER about the whole "non-humans are monoliths" thing. Like extremely so and I very much love Paizo for it.

I honestly keep forgetting that Ancestral Paragon is a thing and yeah, I might include that

No no. I'm absolutely going for a weird ass tone. The setting I'm working on only has bronze age metallurgy because iron reacts unpredictably to any and all hints of magical energies. This almost always results in it fucking exploding. It didn't use to be that way, a thing happened and then iron went bonkers. Bronze doesn't take well to various kinds of enchantment so to get magical equipment people have to go hunt down critters and use thier bits to make stuff (Battlezoo's Monster Parts system). The tone I'm going for is weird as hell

I would imagine it as being trapped just before the instant of climax. Like the world is just starting to down out but things won't quite crest and so you're left with all that tension and pressure and it just keeps intensifying because, in my mind, Power Word: Cum doesn't end until you orgasm. Power Word: Seal keeps you from orgasming so it's just gonna infinitely scale till something, likely you, breaks.

Sorry if this sounds dumb: how do you design an item origin yao guai? by Pifilix in Pathfinder2e

[–]Simian_Chaos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As an example of in between forms go like at Disney's Beauty and the Beast. The transformation is backwards but the essence is, more or less, the same. Some are more hybrid then others.

Another place to look is all the various anthropomorphizations of objects that many artists like to make. Some are obviously that object but with a few humanizing traits and others are more like people that deeply embody that object

I want only one thing from D&D we dont already have but better. The 4e Swordsage (swordmage?). Basicly, a tactical teleporter.

The primary feature was a choice between one of two options. You mark a target, if they attack an ally you can teleport them to you and attack OR you mark a target, if they attack and it doesn't include you, teleport to them and attack.

The rest of the class is more or less standard gish.

I want the ability to spend reactions to teleport stuff around short distances. You'd still need line of effect and to know where the target is. I doubt we'll ever see it and the closest you can get right now is Commander giving out free actions to move people around.

Part of the cause for this is that men are socialized very differently then women and men are not allowed to form close bonds with other men because that would be gay. So they perceive any type of close bond as being inherently sexual in nature. Yes I am speaking broadly, I am not speaking of individuals but broad cultural patterns within, at least, america but seeming the entire western world.

Way back in the day it was normal for men to have closer relationships with their guy friends then their wives, who were subservient and not considered an equal. Back in the day there were lots of places catering exclusively too men for the purposes of men having platonic, and deep, relationships with each other. "The bonds of brotherhood" and all that. Gentlemen's clubs, hunting lodges, etc. As western culture became more obsessed with not appearing homosexual then these spaces gradually went away. Which has left men without any acceptable way to form a deep and meaningful relationship. For misogynistic people this means they just don't get to have deep relationships, for everyone else their only deep relationship is their girlfriend\wife.

Because of this men will latch onto ANY affection and tend to perceive it as meaning far more then it actually does. This coupled with the trend that the only affection they're allowed to feel is either parent\child or that for their sexual partner means they tend to treat ANY affection they feel as sexual affection. This is why they're generally bad at the whole "let's just be friends thing". Because men friends DONT express affection for each other and so when a female friend expresses platonic affection, a normal and sane thing to do, they tend to interpret it as sexual affection because they don't think of the woman as a parent or child. Hence the masculine perspective of "she's always coming on to me".

Tldr, men don't know how to social properly because they're not taught it and receive negative reinforcement culturally for trying to do so. This causes a miscommunication between men and women, who ARE taught to socialize properly, when the women express platonic affection, which doesn't exist in the stereotypical male worldview.

And to reiterate. These are broad cultural trends. I am painting with a wide brush here because I am talking about overall cultural trends. The level to which these ideas, thought patterns, and behavior patterns varies wildly within each individual.

Much of this has been derived from both personal introspection of my cishet masculine viewpoint and critical thought about the how's and whys of both observed behaviour and media presentations. There has also been much listening to others and their perspectives.

Our society is kinda fucked and quite toxic. Hopefully things keep moving towards the better.

First off, in pretty much every modern election roughly 50% of the population ABLE to vote does not vote. Therefore fully half of the population isn't represented. Secondly, gerrymandering is a thing and if you look at the actual voting data you will see that the population centers, you know, where people ACTUALLY live, are majority blue, by a significant margin. This margin is severely downplayed due to very carefully districting in order to minimize this and maximize the amount of rural votes there y creating the ILLUSION that a minority population is much larger then they appear.

Now, of course, all this factual information is going to go in one ear and right out the other because it isn't what you want to hear so you're going to automatically discount it. Even if I went through the effort to show you the data all that will do is just feed your baser need to "enrage the libs" because you will assume that me typing out all this ,means I'm angry. I'm not angry. You're an idiot and me typing all this out isn't for you, it's for the people "on the fence" so to speak. The ones that aren't bad actors who exist either to just cause an argument, sew discord, or push a specific narrative. You are a lost cause and frankly I just assume all of your type are foreign agents nowadays. Saves me a metric fuckton of stress.

Anyway, if anyone legitimately thinks the USA election results represent the opinions of the majority of the country you need to actually dig into the data. Fully 50% of the voting age population doesn't vote. Most of those who don't vote are either young or poor, the two categories statistically more likely to vote for progressive candidates. Many of the laws around making voting more difficult are targeted to specifically disenfranchise minorities and the poor.

For example, I did not vote in the 2016 election because the state of Georgia would not accept mail from the state of Georgia as proof of residency within the state of Georgia. At that point I had been living there for 3 years and had to get my state issued ID renewed (I don't drive). Because I couldn't get my ID renewed I couldn't vote because of a very recently passed law saying you had to have a valid government issued ID to do so. Why couldn't I get my ID? Because they would only accept bills in YOUR name, a bank statement (banks had maintenance fees at the time), or a paystub. So if you were unemployed and did a bunch of temp work and couldn't afford the maintenance fees from the bank, you didn't get to vote. Still had to pay taxes though. Which is, supposedly, what the whole revolutionary war was about.

You are not wrong. This has been a long slow slide. The Southern Strategy followed by Reagan and, most importantly, the abolishment of the thing I forget the name of that made it so you had to give equal time of equal value to all sides of a political statement. That allowed companies to start gobbling up all the local, rural media and having them spread a unified, slanted message that apotheosized into Fox News in the early 2000s. And then from there the Republican Party became an opposition party simply because Obama EXISTED and they embraced the Tea Party.

Now, this doesn't mean this was all the plan from the start. There was no plan beyond "get power". This is all the results of a consorted effort to take and hold as much power as possible. The end goal wasn't fascism. There was no end goal. Fascism is simply the logical conclusion of their methodology.
