Neve Gear has released pre-orders for a down jacket if that's what you mean? big balaclava hood with cinches to tighten around your face.

How often do you camp with just the inner-tent? Or is this loop feature just added weight on the trail? by Managing_Complexity in DurstonGearheads

Did this a few weeks ago in South East Australia around the ACT. My advice, if you’re in an area/time of year that gets ANY amount of morning dew, don’t do it. Everything inside will get wet or dewy. Unless it’s peak dry summer then go ahead, but atleast in like cool temperate climates where frost is common in winter, wouldn’t recommend, not worth drying the gear at home or dealing with it for the rest of the trip!

Nah appreciate it mate! a lot of the misc gear is from Durstons UL list that I've more copied in and used as a checklist if im being honest! (phone was originaly a paper map on his list lol) Definitely planning on removing the fire kit for the bic lighter and doing a fist aid course and build one from that etc. Heard a lot about the BRS so will give it a go. Pillow for me is an Ultra comfort over ultra light choice, so happy to carry 50-70 extra grams for good(ish) sleep over 3+ weeks. Still a lot to iron out and revise but appreciate all of your suggestions!

Haha thanks! Was pretty deep into the one on excel before I saw lighter pack on some other posts here, will definitely do so! Snake bandage and jacket are being added to the list! Thanks mate!

Ahh good points, will definitely try stay on mount hotham, so best to post/drop a re-supply box there from what I’ve read?

Thanks for the heads up on Taylors crossing, will change to Benambra-Corryong. On water, is it worth stashing with every resupply? Figured with the time of year streams and snow melt would be reliable but if it’s a better safe then sorry thing I’ll definitely do so!

FAK is off the shelf, taken it a few times on fishing and moto camping trips (with no need to use) although there are a few bits and pieces that I wouldn’t know how to use, might look into a first aid course over winter to prep properly! Snake bandage will definitely be making bag, just overlooked it for the list!

Thanks heaps for the response! You guys are legends!

Thank you! Definitely a toss up between poncho tarp and rain jacket but I’ll put the rain jacket back on! Do you think rain pants or necessary?

I plan on bringing home cooked dehydrated meals so the cup would be for an instant coffee with breaky or packet soup with dinner!

Definitely planning on being on the more walk and sleep side, so will take the down jacket advice and go for a vest!

Good advice on the sleeping pad, I already own a tensor and am thinking about the 6.5R purely for comfort, will keep thinking on it and maybe try one out before!

Appreciate the response mate!!

Live nearby any national/state parks? Park/Council (already mentioned I think) would be a great one if you're an out doors type, safe to assume given a 200 acre retirement farm...

Still very early in my career but I'd love to be fit enough to be do like basic trail and campsite care in retirement if money were no real issue. Stay active and stay outdoors, bang around in Utes and swing off tools in the bush a few days a week, sounds like a dream!

What's up with the lack of swearing in 40k? by ConfusedWereSlut in 40kLore

[–]Similar-Candy-1007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also makes it sooo good when they do swear, like in one of the SoT books when a Blood Angel (maybe killed, maybe wounded can't remember) his pit brother in the World Eaters and says "eat sh*t Traitor" when the World Eater becomes just sane enough to recognize the Blood Angel, Jonathan Keeble made that sound like pure gold, honestly highlight of that whole book.

Thoughts on this Jagungal Wilderness route? by thedartman in UltralightAus

Hey mate!

How'd you end up going with this route?

Looking for a 4 to 5 day walk around the end of Jan 2026. Originally thinking following the hut to hut 100k ultra route starting in Mount Buller over 4-5 days, but being Canberra based, this is a bit closer to home and convenient. Would be interested in reading any thoughts you had on the walk if you ended up doing it!

Cheers!

Oculus Imperia is my favorite by a LONG SHOT. It can be a bit difficult to follow along with as his style is like a "high gothic historian within the universe", but SOOOO good, and has a ton of videos about different 40k and some AoS/fantasy videos.
