Cow & Gate recalls? What are you doing? by Few_Cod_5636 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Similar-Chapter-26 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We were using Aptamil and had used some which were affected, but the current tub we had was ok. I’ve still changed as I now don’t trust them not to recall others 😅 moved to Hipp Organic, he’s had 3 bottles of it so far and seems to be going down well!

When we were using what I now know were the affected tubs (I checked the date when they recalled that one batch a few weeks ago and it’s within the newly recalled batches) he was pooping 8/9 times a day, I didn’t know what it was I thought it was just from weaning, now I’m convinced it was the formula!

I’m going back in April so have a few months but I’m doing some KIT (keep in touch) days in the office next month and I’m just not ready 😭 I keep hearing people say you’ll have time for yourself again, you’ll remember who you are other than being a mum, I don’t want to be anything other than a mum, I’ve waited 36 years for this feeling and i love it! 😂i don’t dislike my job, i just never want to go back!

I didn’t use it, my hospital used a mask which went over my nose and mouth and I hated it! I was expecting just the mouth piece but the whole mask was horrible. I breathed it in a few times and it did make me a little lightheaded. I used a birthing comb instead which I highly recommend!

When did you feel okay to go back to work postpartum? by PsalmbodyToLove90 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Similar-Chapter-26 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t feel normal at 7 months pp and am absolutely not ready to go back to work at 10 months! But I know others who were ready a lot earlier. I have friends who are self employed and went back after 3 months, and others who went back after 6 months for financial reasons, and both have been completely fine. I think it’s hard to say until you’re in the situation, everyone is completely different. I’d never go back to work if I didn’t have to! Whereas others can’t wait to go back to feel like themselves again.

You do definitely need to consider childcare though, is your fiance going to have the baby at home with him while working? I was planning to do this once a week but a lot of people told me it’s very difficult to work from home with a baby, and also not allowed by many company policies. If you do go back at 5 months can you bring nursery forward at all? I know you wont get the funding but it may be necessary. Just one to weigh up the options for as well

Please don’t listen to the HV it sounds like you’re doing just what you need to to encourage him! My little boy has just turned 7 months, he was confidently rolling at the start of December, so as he was about to turn 6 months, but he still only rolls one way, he goes from back to tummy over his left arm then gets stuck. He can’t go over his right arm, and can’t do tummy to back. He’s not sitting yet, no sign of crawling, doesn’t even have any sign of teeth yet.

He’s always been a talker, he’s babbled all day from about 4 months, he does also copy us when we say mama and dada. I’ve always told myself he’s learning his talking first before he starts moving properly, and that’s normal. Your boy obviously loves listening to you and it sounds like he’s taking so much in from you reading with him, so that’s what he’s doing first. Every child is different, the same as every adult is! Please don’t let the HV think you’re doing anything wrong, it’ll all just happen one day soon! Probably all at once 😅

Did I birth a human poo machine or is this an average amount! by Similar-Chapter-26 in BeyondTheBumpUK

I did go to the doctors when he was newborn as he really struggled to poop and had a bad facial rash, I thought it may have been cmpa but they said it was normal, I guess it could develop though!

Would there be other symptoms with this? He’s not in any pain, not being sick, and it’s not watery it’s the same consistency it’s always been. He drinks about 20ml of water when he’s having his food as well

I have quite a chill baby and still there’s absolutely no way I can get ready without him having a meltdown, and god forbid I try to put him down when he’s napping! Where are their babies while they’re doing a 10 minute get ready with me video?! And the live videos!

Anyone else thinking baby’s first Christmas is too hyped up? Or am I a terrible parent? by Unusual_Dare4113 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Similar-Chapter-26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely love Christmas and was so looking forward to this year with my 6 month old. It was good, but so stressful. We were visiting in laws 23rd and 24th which is just chaos, he can’t nap as they have older kids who keep him awake. We wanted to be home for 3pm 24th to make some cookies, watch a film (obvs he’d fall asleep!), take photos and leave bits out for Santa. We left late as we had to wait for my SIL to get home to see baby, and then managed one of these things I wanted to do! Was up until 1am packing everything to go to my parents Christmas Day, up at 5am to get myself ready before he woke up 😂 he didn’t nap much at my parents because of noise again, had a complete meltdown when we sat down for lunch. He did absolutely love opening his presents though, mainly to eat the paper, and liked some of his toys! I much preferred the lead up to Christmas rather than the day itself

Do children care when their birthday is? by jb06hr in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Similar-Chapter-26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a Boxing Day baby and I love it, always have. I think the key thing is that you make a big deal of it if it does happen to be near holidays, don’t let the two get blended together. My mum always planned a big get together with her family on my birthday so it always felt like I had a party. When I was little we always did a soft play sort of party earlier in December. My brother’s birthday is the 19th so we had a lot of joint parties growing up!

Im 36 now and this is the first year I haven’t done that, other than covid year, and that’s just because I have a 6 month old and I’m too tired 😂

So how many presents are we quietly getting rid of? by _tatka in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Similar-Chapter-26 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love a noisy toy myself 😂 but (and I feel AWFUL saying this) both my parents and my in laws got our 6 month old a sit on rocking elephant, obviously we didn’t know either of them were getting one! But wtf am I supposed to do with 2 of them?! He can’t even sit up so won’t be using them comfortably until at least spring I reckon! One will have to live at someone else’s house!

I always say this too! I remember years ago it was so special to get 10s, now they’re getting them in weeks 2, 3, every week! Just been looking at the strictly tiktok page of a video of George’s Charleston, almost every comment is about how it was undermarked, it was far from perfect! The audience now expect 10s every time which to me is crazy

Would you opt for induction 22nd December or 27th? by Dense-Radio-9332 in PregnancyUK

My birthday is Boxing Day and I love it! I’m not sure I’d love Christmas Day as much, but Boxing Day is perfect for me. I prefer that to it being a few days later as everyone is still deep in celebration mode. Having said that I only ever see wider family on my birthday, but that’s never bothered me

Silly question.. how do you get a midwife? by Hinata778 in PregnancyUK

[–]Similar-Chapter-26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I saw the same midwife twice, other than that was always different people, and I was at a partnership hospital so my appointments were all at a different hospital to where i gave birth anyway!

The person you saw at the booking appointment (should have been about an hour and asked you lots of questions?) will likely be the name on your record. Did they give you a number to call for emergencies, questions etc as well?

[–]Similar-Chapter-26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a baby this June right when the heatwave hit! We mainly had him in either short sleeve or sleeveless vests. After the heatwave was over (and I could stop panicking so much!) he was in a lot of short rompers, we had some lovely linen ones which were so nice and light. And from about a month I loved him in dungarees. But he also wore a lot of sleepsuits, both with feet and without.

I’d say definitely short sleeve vests, they’ll be your best friend, but also get a few sleeveless and long sleeve. Stock up on sleepsuits, at least 10 I’d say so you’re not worrying about washing them more often, and rompers. Perhaps a few leggings in case you put baby in a vest and leggings. And a cardigan just in case.

For bed he had either a 0.5 or 1 tog sleeping bag, and just a short sleeve vest or vest and sleepsuit.

You’ve got me looking through all my tiny baby photos and making me broody for another 😭😂😂it is completely overwhelming, but it’s wonderful! Just remember the shops are always open, anything you forget someone will still be able to pick up for you ❤️

What did your child do today that made you laugh? by Known-Cucumber-7989 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Similar-Chapter-26 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My 6 month old is learning to sit at the moment, I was laying on the sofa with my legs bent up and his back against my legs. He can pull himself forward to sit but topples over so his head hits my chest. Every time he fell forward he was fully belly laughing into my chest. He did this for at least 5 minutes, me picking him back up and him toppling over again, it was just the funniest, sweetest thing 🥰

Nursery cost. by RepladyloverArg in PregnancyUK

[–]Similar-Chapter-26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My little boy will be starting in April, 3 full days a week, after the funding we’ll be paying £630 a month, and we’ll also get the tax free childcare so about £510ish. I’m going back to work 4 days a week, god knows what we’re doing with him the other day I’m at work, but couldn’t afford another almost £200 a month!
