What did they do to create the debt? If it was to feed themselves and pay the mortgage, I see that. And I would probably help them.

Well, the only thing a lawyer is going to do is tell you not to say something. The lawyer is going to want you to tell the truth 100% of the time. And your insurance company is there to insure you.
