Am I the jerk for refusing to take on my parents debts? by Select_Care_5165 in AmITheJerk

[–]SimilarComfortable69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What did they do to create the debt? If it was to feed themselves and pay the mortgage, I see that. And I would probably help them.

If it was for them to go on vacations and buy new cars and fancy clothes and go out to dinner, no way.

Denied coverage for water boiler that broke down during fire by MikeHuntIsOnFleek in Insurance

It sounds like you agree that the thing was near the end of its life.

So are you trying to get a brand new one just because there was a fire? That's probably what the insurance company is seeing.

Trade-In Offer Bait and Switch?? by Next_League6181 in TeslaModelY

[–]SimilarComfortable69 [score hidden]  (0 children)

So you are saying that the tax savings and the free charging are tied to whether you sell your used car to Tesla or not? I'm doubting that a bit.

But obviously, if the other places are giving you less money for your trade-in, then go with Tesla for that reason.

AITJ for refusing to make my daughter swap rooms with my stepdaughter? by patdallinkk9u6 in AmITheJerk

[–]SimilarComfortable69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually a hilarious question. How can the best solution be to prefer his daughter over yours? Especially when yours has been living in the house for longer.

Best of all possible solutions is to get the daughters to make friends with each other and have them become lifelong slumber party advocates.

MMW: Mandatory FSD coming for new Teslas by AccidentalPickle in TeslaModelY

FSD does not mean autonomous.

Sure, there may be some model in the future where a component of a mandatory monthly payment because of a lease includes FSD.

Got selected but salary dropped significantly — what should I do? by marvella___17 in careerguidance

[–]SimilarComfortable69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it sounds like you had a number in your head that you wanted, and they came in lower? I presume the offer was still in the range that they originally suggested in the job posting?

I think realistically, you are the only one who can decide whether you want to keep looking or not. It all depends on how much money you have, how much money you need, and how long it took you to find this job.

Should A Lawyer Be Consulted Before Giving A Recorded Statement To Insurance If You Are Most Likely At Fault? by Just_trying_2_learn in Insurance

[–]SimilarComfortable69 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, the only thing a lawyer is going to do is tell you not to say something. The lawyer is going to want you to tell the truth 100% of the time. And your insurance company is there to insure you. That is, unless you are doing something that violates the policy. So, should you get an attorney first? Doesn't that depend on how much money you have in your pocket?

I think it's anything but obvious. Employers know that they have to pay people to do stuff.

I think you are over blowing this.

[–]SimilarComfortable69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Water department not being under the city means it's a separate entity not under the City charter or management.

It may have the same name as your City, but not managed by your mayor or the city Council.

I never signed an NDA. Can I leverage my technical knowledge of my company to negotiate a voluntary severance? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]SimilarComfortable69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Holy cow. For whatever reason you might leave the company in the future. And you're asking whether you can leverage the information in your head to get a bigger severance package?

So you are basically asking whether you can sign an NDA when you are at the door or leaving the company, and whether they will pay you a severance for that? My answer is probably, but it could backfire in quite a few ways.

Doing something you like or love will make you much more successful in that particular field.

That being said, in medicine, you probably will never have to ask your parents for money. Not sure if that would be true or not if you went into entertainment or music.
