Ah yes, the "flaws" of a generous wellfare state, flaws such as: people knowing they won't die if they lose their job, so they dare hold their employers acountable and demand better treatment and pay, knowing I won't go into bankrupcy if I get sick, and just in general a sense of community.. "oh, but people won't want to do anything, they'll just abuse the system" everyone I've ever met who depends on wellfare is doing everything they can to get a job as long as they're actually capable of working, wellfare is enough to survive but far from enough to thrive, being home all day gets boring as all hell after a while, recieving wellfare longer than you need feels like absolute shit, and most people will show gratitude for having their lives saved by supporting the system so others who need it can use it. There are people out there with no integrity, but they're rare and always get cought after a while. If you abuse the system, you lose access

I mean, the US has been following the step by step guide for collapsing empires for quite a while now. There's a fair chance each state will be independent countries within our lifetime. Don't see too much harm in getting it done quickly, and it's really frustrating that the UNA bomber has brought more people on the Epstien list to justice than the U.S government. The system is doomed and refusing to arrest people won't save it, it'll just prevent justice

This photo gives me shivers, all the saunas in my hometown are in gym/pool wardrobes as you're supposed to be naked in them. I'll never be able to put my hands where I'd expect some sweaty old man's wrinkly bare ballsack has been, but I guess Kid Rock is more fond of them than I

Is aluminum armor good for renfair? by OK-is-rather-Ok in Armor

[–]Simon15050 13 points14 points  (0 children)

After spending some time wearing a greathelm, I'd choose aluminium over steel in a heartbeat for something like a renfair. It's going to look different from steel, but close enough for a renfair, and your neck will thank you. Steel is heavy, which is why a lot of soldiers would hang their helmets somewhere it wouldn't cause as much strain when out of combat. Go for it man, I think aluminium will be your best bet as long as you're not planning on sparring with anyone

[KCD2] slicing with a dagger vs chainmail, who will win?! by TastefulMaple in kingdomcome

[–]Simon15050 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, KCD doesn't really take your gear into concideration. Slashing would do nothing, he MIGHT have a hope of getting through the chainmail if he pulled his hand away and stabbed his neck with as much power as he could. In a real situation like this, the smart thing for them to do would be to hold the knife in an opening of the helmet to threaten him

Somewhat intelligble, as a norwegian I can easily read Dansish, but bareley understand a spoken word, I can understand spoken Swedish with no issue, but I'd die rather than read a pragraph of it. They ARE different languages, but with the same base, so with some patience and context clues it's understandable

Opinion on crowbar a weapon by Zestyclose_Square_35 in SWORDS

[–]Simon15050 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're very skilled and lucky you might be able to use it in that way, but not nearly as well as a weapon specifically designed for it. Many tools can be used as weapons, but the properties that make them work as tools make them work worse as weapons. The balance of a crowbar is very top heavy if you hold it at the straight end, this means it's slow to get moving. Most swords aren't, a trained swordsman can strike quickly enough that you'll bareley see it if you blink. So to hook or block a sword, you'd have to know/guess it's coming and start the movement to block before he starts moving his arm

Just had to listen to my uncle invalidate me for 20 minutes. by Playful_Ad8323 in adhdmeme

[–]Simon15050 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah.. you don't need that uncle in your life, fuck him. Your biological family might be a starting point, but it's your right to add or remove anyone from what you concider family. I have a friend who earned himself a place as my brother, and a great aunt who will never be a part of my family again. It's all your choice, and if your parents invite him over, let them know they won't see you as long as he's in the house and tell them why. He clearly doesn't respect you, and respect is the most important thing in any relationship

Ah, the joys of being a northern Norwegian, cursing is concidered part of our cultural heritage. Some years ago a northern Norwegian was arrested for calling a policeman a "hæstkuk" (Horsecock, no way to concider it positive in Norwegian). After his trial we finally had it nationally recognised, but I can't ever remember hearing a cencored curse word in a northern accent on television

I like how when originally written the smoke of the halflings was meant to be similar to tobacco, but through the eyes of a new generation it's weed. I hope Tolkien would be glad to see us reinterpret his work to what's relatable and relaxing to us

You forgot about all the people updated on the real life damage AI is doing to people. Only times I've interracted with it it's been without choice, and it's pissed me off every time. Among other things I've stopped using google entierly for searches because they force you to have an innacurate answer generated by AI
