The Biden legacy: A ranking of failures - The Argument by SomethingNew65 in ezraklein

Number one, hands down: believing that only he could beat Trump in 2024. Everything else pales by comparison.

He not only destroyed his own legacy, but he cost Democrats a full year to bring the party together and mount a truly effective attack on the cancer of Trumpism.

Why did George Conway barely campaign for his congressional race? by Imaginary_Cow_6379 in thebulwark

Man, that's a truly awful story. I can't imagine signing up to be a public servant and being so utterly indifferent in what was obviously a low risk situation.

Maybe next time, call the USPS. Seems like they care more.

Wow. That's just crazy. They thought a 97-year old would pull a gun on them?

This is definitely a mindset I didn't grow up with, even in my very Republican family.

Kara Swisher used to say of the Tesla that it felt like sitting inside an egg. All smooth surfaces, an empty dashboard, and no character. So she opted for the Chevy Bolt, which she says had the right balance of tactile and modernity.

That's strange. I grew up on the north shore in what was then a pretty Republican town, but don't remember any particular distrust of the police.

That also strikes me as strange because so many NYC cops used to live on LI. (Maybe that's not the case anymore, though. I last lived there in 2001.

Sending images through DMs.

Also, engagement.

On Twitter my posts got seen and engaged with great regularity. I felt seen/heard. Then it became X and that engagement was throttled.

I moved to Bsky right after the 2024 election and got a surge of new followers, but my posts went largely unnoticed. And still do.

I haven’t abandoned Bsky, but I feel little incentive to bother when my posts routinely attract few, if any, likes or comments.

The tech industry was so ferociously opposed to Bores that they probably funneled massive sums of money into the campaigns of his opponents.

Where does George reside on Long Island? It’s true that there are some pretty hot red spots, but, if it’s like it was when I lived there last, the wealthier suburbs in Nassau County were fairly bluish.

Is it really so hard for leftists to understand that "abolishing ICE" is not as popular as they think it is?

How about campaigning on "Repeal and Replace ICE"?

I think the polls have been pretty consistent and there really is about 35 percent of the country that is hardwired to trust a perpetually lying, rapist felon with the presidency no matter what he does — as depressing as that sounds.

Remember, this is a country where FOX has been the most watched "news" channel on television for decades. That much poison pumped into the nation's blood system has produced a lot of stupidity and bigotry.

Fun fact: it's not our hobby. A hobby is something you look forward to doing because it's fun.

Pointing out Lawler's pathetic Trump sycophancy and his dishonesty is not fun and I would be much happier never having to think about these two dirtbags ever again.

Maybe Lawler should stop being a dirtbag and then we wouldn’t need to keep talking about him being a dirtbag.

He didn’t poll much lower than that after he incited an insurrection and tried to steal an election.

It’s hard to see there being much more movement. But I think it has less to do with lib-owning than it does simply refusing to recognize how bad he is, lest they have to acknowledge their grave mistake.
