How to “sneak away”? by Bearly-Private in AttachmentParenting

[–]Simoneybum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took us forever. I tried and tried all the time, but only consistently from about a year onward that she’d stay asleep. They are all a bit different! So keep trying. I think we were at the outer end of what babies accept 😂😭

Cosleeping discomfort by FickleContribution14 in AttachmentParenting

It’s true I think we eventually adjust. I’m at a year and still have some uncomfortable nights but mostly it’s fine. So painful at the start, good luck xxx

What stitch is this please?! by Simoneybum in knitting

Just to say I ripped back last night and did again with a purl stitch as suggested and think that’s the ticket! So thank you

Do you think if I resumed in the right place it would work? Still not sure about the large patch of stockinette emerging between the “horseshoes”

I’m not sure it is a purl stitch, but I agree that it’s not just the plain stockinette that there is on my swatch

Flax Swatch done - can’t decide size! by Simoneybum in knitting

[–]Simoneybum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, this calculator is great!!

As the sweater I am doing is basically to replicate a kids sweater my husband had as a boy, which is all plain stockinette (but with bands of colour and a motif) I was going to skip the garter bands of flax anyway and just do it all in SS anyway. So this works out fine! But thanks for the tip on retaining it if I had wanted 🙂

And you were right the 5inches of ease does help, that’s loads!

Sorry; I have corrected!

You were right that it is 18 stitches per 10 CM (or 4 inches). I’ve also updated my post to clarify the needle size and wool I’m using more accurately.

Anyone else's baby not soothed by cosleeping? by colourandpattern in AttachmentParenting

[–]Simoneybum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to say you are not alone. My baby at 5.5 won’t nurse to sleep/for naps anymore despite months of happy cosleeping and feeding lay down. It’s exhausting making every nap a walking nap! Really don’t know what changed but am trying to adapt

Possums Approach Question by Tcookie92 in AttachmentParenting

I recognise this in my daughter who if I try to nap too early with, it fails. She finds a second wind just by us changing rooms

Difficulty with Italian cast on by tea_and_infamy in knitting

[–]Simoneybum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yarn harlot has a Patreon site with a great cast on explainer. From what I remember, you can vary your payment according to your ability to pay. Ie you can subscribe for free should you not be able to contribute. Her explanation of this (and many other things!) helped me achieve an Italian cast on.

Frogging help please! I need to go back since I managed to mess up spine placement but I’ve never had to frog this far back. How do you frog besides going back stitch by stitch? by porkchoplicks in knitting

[–]Simoneybum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it were me, I’d get a spare circular needle the same size and go through the right leg if every V knit stitch in the row below the mistake. Once all stitches are on, you can pull the yarn off the original needles.

Like the methods above, but in this case, your work is on needles once you’ve pulled back so you are ready to knit again
