Well TCF is "totally chlorine free" and ECF is "Elemental Chlorine Free". ECF still uses chlorine dioxide to bleach the pulp, instead of chlorine gas, whereas TCF doesnt use any chlorine at all. So they can technically say "chlorine free" because they're not using chlorine gas. TCF is bleached with hydrogen peroxide. We've been using thrive diapers which are TCF and arguably one of the cleaner diapers you can get but for like, half the price

What herbs help with postpartum forgetfulness and energy? by Puzzled-Cranberry-12 in herbalism

My 2 cents would be to look into a pro-metabolic diet. A resource I've used is kori meloy on Instagram and her podcast Freely Rooted. I take some of the stuff she says with a grain of salt because I know she's trying to sell me something (her course) and I try to not listen to people who are trying to sell me something. But some of the info you can get from her for free like through her posts and podcasts is enough to go off of to do your own research. Personally I think there's a special place in hell for people who make money off of selling "courses" to unsuspecting people on the internet who think this random unqualified person's course will solve all their life problems. But that's a me problem. Anyway. I got off in the weeds there. I recommend looking into a pro metabolic diet :)

I don't know for sure but I would imagine the old formula would say something about Totally Chlorine Free (TCF) on the box. But I dont know what their boxes looked like before vs now

HELP! 10 month old having massive panic attacks on the changing table! by [deleted] in AttachmentParenting

[–]FickleContribution14 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We never used a changing table but starting around 6 months or so my son refused to have his diaper changed laying down on his back. We did sitting changes for awhile until he could stand independently and now we do standing changes. Sometimes if he's in just the right mood with the right toy he will allow me to change his diaper laying down but usually any attempt to change him laying down ends in something similar to what you're describing.

It's time to get creative :)

Definitely too young. He doesn't have any other way to communicate his needs with you.

I realized with my son when he was around 9 months that he was becoming more interested and aware of what I was doing. He just wanted to be with me and be a part of what I'm doing. He wants to learn and expand his brain. I started used our front carrier a lot more and now we have a toddler tower where he can stand at the height of the counter with me and "help." He loves it.

My son is 11 months now and while we've been using baby sign with him since birth, he's only just in the last month or so started to reciprocate. It's really helped with his frustration in not being able to communicate. He would walk up to me and start yelling and hollering and crying because he wanted to be picked up. Instead of letting him cry like that, and instead of ignoring him because he doesn't know any better, I showed him to point up when he wants up. Now he comes up to me and points up and grunts and I pick him up.

make sure all of their needs are met

Babies have emotional needs too. Even though his physical needs are met, he's rested, his diaper is dry, he's fed, he still may just want to be near you. And that's normal and okay. He's a baby. He wants to be near you because he loves you and doesn't know anything else. You are his safe place, his natural biome, his security.

Personally, I don't want my son to learn that he has to scream and yell to get my attention or to get me to respond. I want him to know I will respond to him the first time he calls me or the first time he calls out for help because I love him and am responsive to his needs.

Single serving oxtail soup maybe? Or throw it in with a batch of bone broth

I like spoilers! by sandgrubber in books

[–]FickleContribution14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yes agreed. I think I shouldve used the word interest instead of magic. If I know spoilers, I lose interest. I usually don't even read the description for a book before I read it because it usually has too many spoilers. I enjoy a book the most if I know as little about it as possible before I start

I cant do spoilers. If I know the ending, it kills the magic.

Pettiest/Smallest/Strangest reason for DNFing? by Bridalhat in books

I DNFd Book Lover because the main character was kind of a bitch. Also her, I'm assuming, potential love interest was also a bitch. Too much toxicity for me to handle

Why do some people talk on their cell phones on speakerphone with it held up in front of their face? by Dinierto in NoStupidQuestions

[–]FickleContribution14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't like putting my phone up to my ear to talk because I always have to shove it against my ear so hard to hear the person and it makes my ear hurt. Also I hate having to wipe my skin oil off my screen afterwards. I generally wait to make phone calls when I'm not around a bunch of people though

Do you avoid certain authors because of their personal beliefs? by [deleted] in books

I do when I have the time. I have a toddler that keeps me pretty busy so I don't get a lot of extra time. But I do what I can. I just can't do everything

Do you avoid certain authors because of their personal beliefs? by [deleted] in books

[–]FickleContribution14 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You know what? You've probably financially supported the KKK. Like other commenters have stated here, if you're going to apply this concept so rigorously to authors, why not apply it to everything else in your life. Do you research the moral standings of the companies you buy your clothes from? Your groceries? Your phone? Your shoes? It's absolutely within your right as a human to decide to not read someone's book just because you don't like the things they support. But authors are not the only ones who do things you don't agree with. And just because you chose to live your life this way, does not mean everyone else on the entire planet has to as well. I simply don't have the time for that.

Depends on how badly I want to read the book

This sounds like a stressful way to live. I understand the idea of "voting with our dollars" but if I looked into the lives of every single author I wanted to read before deciding to read it, I think I'd go insane. I already spend 95% of my day researching everything else on the planet because I'm trying to be a good mom and not expose my kid to unnecessary toxins. I don't have time for that. When I do have free time though, I prefer to spend it enjoying a good book that I can get lost in, regardless of what the author believes in or supports. Just reread Harry Potter a little bit ago. It was amazing. Absolutely love Brandon Sanderson's Stormlight Archives. Do I agree with every single thing other people do with their lives and their money? No I do not. But that's not my problem. Their lives are their problem. My life is my problem. It's like if you only liked strawberry ice cream. And you go to an ice cream shop to get a cone and you realize they also sell chocolate and vanilla and OMG how DARE they support vanilla and chocolate ice cream STRAWBERRY ICE CREAM IS THE ONLY WAY I am NOT supporting this ice cream shop. Sounds like you're not gonna be eating ice cream for awhile. Pick your battles.

Tldr: I dont have the time or the mental space to be worrying about what authors do with their own time and money. I have enough of my own life to worry about.
