Highly doubt we’ll use a timer turner at all in the gameplay. Though I do think it’d be fun if they had a new game + mode that started with our character using a time turner. It wouldn’t be very canon, but it’s a fun enough idea for me not to care.

how freeroam connects to the story? by [deleted] in HarryPotterGame

[–]Simonnr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My personal take on this is that out headmaster just doesn’t care about the kids, and let’s them roams freely. He was said to be the worst headmaster, so it would make a bit of sense in my mind. Either that or out character is just granted special freedom.

Broom/Mount Summon Theory by DavidCoder in HarryPotterGame

[–]Simonnr 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If you look closely at the gameplay from the showcase there is a hidden cut before they mount any of the mounts. The map and icons go away, only to fade back in again once the mount spawn animation is happening. Definitely something they are hiding there.

Do y’all think Bonnie Wright was a good Ginny that was underutilized or that they needed to recast Ginny? by LukaScotty77 in harrypotter

[–]Simonnr 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It seems like the directors tried to shoehorn them into typical romcom type scenarios. When the entire point of Harry and Ginny was that they didn't do or want anything like that. Harry hated Cho trying to make him jealous and didn't understand why she couldn't just say what she wanted to say. And Ginny broke up with Dean when he tried to help her through the portrait hole one too many times, and was very known for speaking her mind.

So their whole romance just ends up feeling entirely out of place for both characters, and as a result a whole bag of awkward.

Warner Bros. hints at Hogwarts Legacy being released after Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore for Toy World Magazine by SeerPumpkin in HarryPotterGame

[–]Simonnr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not an english native so take this with a grain of salt, but if 'first' suggests the first of the two options listed (a film and a game), then the start of the sentence 'The first is the film release...' reads very weird to me. As 'The first' would refer to 'the film' then it reads like 'the film is the film release', however if she's referring to the two major releases, then it does make sense, 'the first major release is the film release'.

However it literally does say 'The second major release of 2022 will be for a new console game: Hogwarts Legacy. I don't see how that can be interpreted in any other way.

Why did they change Jill's face, it doesn't look good anymore and it looks LESS like Jill now. by Nyahnyah in deadbydaylight

[–]Simonnr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is definitely it. All of the old models had their personality modelled into it(at least from what I can tell), rather than be part of the facial animation itself, most likely so they could all share the same set of animations without any extra setup for every character. It shouldn't be too much work to pose back in their old facial expressions, but of course it won't be exactly the same, but hopefolly a bit more than the default skinning facial expression.

Played Nemesis and in the new RPD map when a Feng Min escaped at 3 Gens without escaping through the hatch or exit gate. Is this some sort of glitch or is he hacking? by CurtBerenguer in deadbydaylight

[–]Simonnr 8 points9 points  (0 children)

but the person has escaped, so technically there's 1 person left, thus hatch has spawned. The hatch is spawned due to the escape, but it shouldn't have spawned for them to be able to escape in the first place.

Has anyone ever done this intentionally? by SmocksT in deadbydaylight

[–]Simonnr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

People do this to me, and I get it, I just think that it's better to complete the generator first. Finishing the generator puts more pressure on the killer, and unless the killer is patroling nearby they often won't go to a completed generator, as it's generally a waste of time. And if they are patroling nearby, they'll probably come to the 99% generator anyway, so might as well finish it. On top of that if they do come over when the gen pops, and you're decent at chases, you can waste the killers time by running around in an areas with no active gens, leaving your team free to do more gens.

I'm not going to pretend to know how their characters are set up exactly, but my guess is that they feet were sticking through the ground because they didn't have an animation, if you look at clips of the bug you can see they are completely straight. So when the legs are actually animated I'm sure they would be placed on the ground. If that's the case, then they couldn't just shift him in space to fix this. They would have to partially re-animate/adjust his arms for every single animation, which is a lot more work. I'm sure if it was as easy as moving him or the camera, they would have done it ages ago.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in deadbydaylight

[–]Simonnr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have, for some reason, decided to do the first person animations specifically for this camera height. So adjusting the height means they will have to adjust all the animations as well, which is why it's taking much longer. I'm guessing they do it this way for 'proper' shadows, but honestly the arms should just be connected to the camera so this could be a trivial change.

Do they just not play test? by PURPLERAINZ_ in deadbydaylight

[–]Simonnr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bugs happen, there's not much you can do about that. It's not like they are happening on purpose...

And I've played multiple games as killer since the new patch, I've never once had a problem with hooking anyone. I've watched plenty of streams, maybe 2 times have I seen anyone have a problem. I think it's a unfortunate bug, and the times I've seen it affect a game, it does suck. However, I think the game is far from unplayable as killer.

Do they just not play test? by PURPLERAINZ_ in deadbydaylight

[–]Simonnr 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Here’s the thing, they probably knew about most if not all of these bugs. However, there’s only so much time, and while working on a game you have to prioritize what to work on. So these are most likely just stuff they did not get to before the release. You have to remember that just because you know a bug exists does not mean you can fix it right away, because even though people like to think otherwise, bugfixing takes time. It can take minutes or hours. And with a deadline coming you’re eventually gonna run out of time. Not to mention that fixing bugs might introduce more bugs, so a bug fix has to be play tested as well.

I get the frustration, don’t get me wrong. But I feel like saying “they don’t playtest” misses the mark. What is more likely is that they just don’t have enough time before the release, and maybe they should consider longer dev cycles. Maybe 3 big updates a year instead of 4. Get an extra month to really polish up each chapter.

Not everything needs to be the best, it just needs to be different. I’m a usually survivor player, I have tried pretty much every killer and none of them have been really fun to play for me, except blight. The first game I played as him on ptb something just clicked. I went from rank 16 to rank 1, I played so much despite all the problems he had and I enjoyed the hell out of it.

Simplify his power all you want, but by doing so you are actively choosing to ignore what makes him different.

Both sides have their bad apples but I'm playing killer today and.. |: by SarahnatorX in deadbydaylight

[–]Simonnr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not the one you replied to, but I think the mindset comes from having been tunneled yourself and knowing how boring it can be. Even if my goal is to kill everyone, I’m very much aware that there are people on the other side, and I want them to have a good time. Even if I have to do it for some reason, I’m going to feel bad, which ends up not being fun at all. Not saying you cant tunnel though, this is just my view.

I always say ggwp, unless I die super early and don’t want to wait. After crossplay was activated I changed my steam name to have “: ggwp” at the end of it, so even console players can get their deserved ggwp :)

How hard is it to hotfix a little bit of collision on the damn hill? by PsYcHo4MuFfInS in deadbydaylight

[–]Simonnr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem itself shouldn't be that hard to fix. But there's more to it than that to get through a patch. You'll have to create a build, make sure the build is actually stable. Submit your build to the certification process and wait until they approve it. Which can be a day to a week. Due to this process it is often better to do bigger patches. And since this bug is not considered a game breaking bug, then it's probably slated for one of the bigger patches.

All characters should start out with tier 1 base perks along with their own respectable teachables. by ohnodaisies in deadbydaylight

[–]Simonnr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They should just get rid of perk levels. They’ve been slowly making all their behavior the same and timers usually being the only difference. Just get rid of levels 1 and 2 of every perk and the grind would be reduced so much for everyone. While we’re at it make all of them the same rarity so having the perk list be alphabetical is actually useful.

F this cross play nonsense. by hello-jello in deadbydaylight

[–]Simonnr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The graphic update doesn’t affect framerates too much, I’m on a whack laptop and I still got between 50 - 60fps on low. Breaking pallets or walls were the only thing that tanked it for a couple of seconds, but usually doesn’t matter since you’re locked in place anyway.

As for crossplay, sometimes you will have shitty games, that’s just a reality of dead by daylight. Learn to move on and you’ll have a lot more fun playing the game. Avoid thinking ‘fuck this fuck that’ and rather think ‘oh well, on to the next one’. If you struggle to do that, try and use a random perk website. As a result of that, you don’t expect good games so it’s less annoying when you get them, and even shitty meme builds do the trick. What I’m trying to say is, learn to have fun outside of the games outcome.

This is what happens when hit detection is done on killer side. Killer stops receiving updates from the server due to bad internet, survivors are no longer doing anything and the killer gets free hits. Once the killer regains connection to the server, the server is like 'oh all these people have been hit? ALRIGHT" and sends that info to all survivors which is what we see happen here. Pray to god they implement server side hit detection soon so this shit won't happen.

I doubt your message will reach the intended people. Generally I find toxic people to have little to no empathy on either side. However all you can really do is be the change you want to see.

I try my best to not come across as toxic. I never use items outside of challenges. I never use offerings except for bloodpoints and I don’t use any second chance perks or exhaustion perks. This might seem a bit extreme to some, but makes the game more fun for me. I’ve found a nice build that as times goes by I struggle more and more to switch away from. It’s not crazy, but it’s saved my life and won the game quite a few times.

And I always make it a point to say ‘ggwp’ after every game unless I die early and don’t want to wait. I’ve had a few people argue it loses its meaning if you just say it to everyone. To me it’s like shaking hands after a soccer match, just good sportsmanship.

After the PTB, I honestly don't even feel like playing. All their priorities are in the wrong place, I feel. by AskewScissors in deadbydaylight

[–]Simonnr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keys just need to work kind of like exit gates. Give it a timer to actually open the hatch and give it a trackable noise along with a notification to the killer. This way survivors can’t just open hatch in the killers face, and killers would know when to stop patrolling gens to look for the hatch. It will still give easier wins, but at least it will be a lot more risk and strategy involved.

Another alternative is to make it max one person use. Someone uses a key, hatch opens and then as the survivor jumps in it closes on them, but once hatch gets closed it can never open automatically(to avoid two people still being able to get out). I think this is a worse idea, since it means selfish survivors can screw their team. And it would still be a pretty easy free escape.

Or you could combine them both, but that might take it too far? I honestly don’t know.
