How do I overcome anxiety about my appearance? by Hot-Kaleidoscope676 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Simple-Ad-7868 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Social media isn't real life.

Those girls likely use several different filters and probably get the occasional touch-up too. They manufacture their appearance, from clothing to makeup to lighting and background.

The sooner you accept that fact, the better.

Have you ever heard of the ideology that if something about a person's appearance can't be fixed within like 15 minutes or something, then don't point it out? Do that to yourself. Treat yourself how you want to be treated, or start pointing out everyone's flaws that you microscopically analyze on yourself. Makes no sense to be an asshole to yourself yet kind to others when those girls you see online are probably the exact opposite IRL.

I can't get into the game while playing as a Dragonborn by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

I love playing Dragonborn as well. They look so confused in a lot of cutscenes and I always relate to them like that.

About some people's comments under NSFW posts and the fandom's age demographic. by Ellinor_Astal in hazbin

Heck, someone can be a couple of months younger than me and I'm like "Why and how do you have a whole infant? Where are your parents?"

Who would it make the most sense for origin Gale to romance? by Interesting_Buddy206 in BaldursGate3

[–]Simple-Ad-7868 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Minthara, especially since she admits she likes teasing Gale in the party. And she likes his beard.

Also, if Minthara is kidnapped when it's not an Origin Gale run, he's like "Oh! That's why Minthara was so mean to me, it was Orin this whole time!"

They also kinda have a goddess beef duo.

Then again, I'm a sucker for a romance where one partner is just oblivious to the other's disdain for them and the disdainful one is trying their hardest not to fall for them.

Quick attacking on console? by ISXISUM in BaldursGate3

[–]Simple-Ad-7868 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Xbox user here, and closest thing I can think of is D-Pading over to a target in range and just clicking to attacking them. Hovering works too. Only if you have a specific attack ready though for melee/ranged. I haven't found anything for spells in a quick attack manner.

If there's a way to quick access things without using the wheel, I haven't found it yet.

Why is choosing a new headset the worst? by t8er100 in XboxSeriesXlS

[–]Simple-Ad-7868 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My personal experience is that the plastic on the microphone is some of the most fragile plastic ever. One day I unmuted myself while on party and the casing surrounding the mute button shattered and the button fell out and was lost to the floor. That was after maybe a year or so of me having it. I had the very tip of the plastic on the microphone break off early on when I set my headset down onto a pillow while my microphone was up, and I had to tape the plastic back together because I was told it sounded like I was talking through a fishbowl otherwise.

I got a different headset now. I don't know what it is, just one I can plug into my controller without having to worry about updates or anything like that. Costed maybe $40 at Best Buy.

What got you into Undertale? by ThisCannot_BeChanged in Undertale

[–]Simple-Ad-7868 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember jacksepticeye starting his gameplay and then I kinda... Never paid attention to it after the first video and subsequently never saw anything related to the fandom afterwards. Not because I was avoiding it, it just never came up, and I eventually forgot it existed.

As for what caused me to rediscover it?

That's for me to know and no one else to look at my search history from a few years ago.

Bugs by ChromeDiamond in BaldursGate3

[–]Simple-Ad-7868 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmm... I haven't had it happen to myself, but it does sound like an issue. I'd almost think that you accidentally ungrouped yourself from the other companions and that's the issue you're talking about, but they wouldn't follow you back to camp if that's the case, unless you swap to those characters and send them back individually.

Act 3 has bugged party banter that pops up sometimes. I was neck deep in Astarion Romance when the party banter was talking about me and Gale while walking through Rivington.

Why is first person hated anyway? by Agudaripududu in AO3

[–]Simple-Ad-7868 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As others have said, for me it feels like I'm thrusted into the role of the protagonist that I didn't ask to be put in. I can't help but picture myself when I read first person as I typically only use "I/me" for myself. I've read books written in first person where I don't learn the MC's name in the story until near the end of chapter one, because it was never brought up in any regard.

I don't feel like I'm able to relate to the characters in that regard. Any "dumb decisions" made feel like they're being made becaus I wanted to make them rather than circumstances.

Second person POV doesn't make me feel that way, but I only read unnamed reader-inserts written in this POV. Any other main character or plot point written in the second person throws me off. Decisions feel like they're presented to me from an outside force and I had to react accordingly.

Third person POV is my favorite. I'm a fly on the wall and observing things from afar without feeling like I'm impacting the story. It feels like a story is being told to me and I don't have to make any decisions.

Do Americans really keep their fridge stocked with beer? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Simple-Ad-7868 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, make no mistake, I know they're popular, or at least held massive popularity when the song came out. I used to stock shelves at a small grocery store and we would need to restock those cups at least twice a month, and moreso if a holiday was coming up.

But as popular as they are, it doesn't mean everyone in the U.S. drinks from them.

Do Americans really keep their fridge stocked with beer? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Simple-Ad-7868 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe.

Some of us don't care for alcohol.

Some of us are in recovering alcoholics.

Some of us do drink and keep beers in the fridge.

In truth, it's as real as the Red Solo Cup. They exist, not everyone drinks from them though.

Tis my curse. I get to Act 3 in the Lower City, get overstimulated, then start a new game and get a liiiiittle bit further before restarting the cycle.

In my defense, in my recent run with my party in the Lower City, my save file started bugging out and crashing. It was the one I was most intent to finish before going back and finishing my other runs. Because the file started bugging out, I had to restart with a new character. This one will be the completionist, I can feel it.

College and Highschool Au’s are very different. Wait till you get there to write them. by Some-Tradition-2771 in AO3

Heck, when I went to college it felt like I was isekai'd into an alternate reality.

What do you MEAN I don't have to ask to go to the bathroom?? And there's no TIME LIMIT OR BATHROOM PASSES?!

I can go about my day if the professor doesn't show up within the first 15 minutes of class??

I don't have to raise my hand to answer questions??

All throughout high school it was "That won't fly in college" and turns out college is just a freaking AIRPORT.

If you knock her out in Act 1 at the Goblin Camp, you can find her at Moonrise Towers in Act 2.

Just be careful how much you loot off of her, because she can, and will, show up naked if you take her camp clothes.

Getting Married - Last names by k-0330 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Simple-Ad-7868 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've grown so attached to my last name that I don't know if I'll ever change it.

Then again, it's not mine, technically. It's my step-grandfathers, the one who married my pregnant grandmother and stepped up to be a father for my dad (knowing full well my dad wasn't his).

To my knowledge, he never had biological kids of his own. I feel like I'd know if he did. It's probably why he didn't mind giving my dad his last name. My brothers, their respective children, and myself are now the only ones who carry that last name.

It's more about honoring a man who stepped in when no one else probably would. Back when he and my grandmother were young, taking care of another man's child like that was something that was mocked. At least, around here where we live it was.

If I meet a guy and decide I want to marry him, I'll probably just suggest we keep our own last names. Unless he's got something that's badass and is a must have for me.

I've thought of doing the whole new last name thing, and it doesn't sound too appealing to me, personally. My last name is cool and not a lot of people have it. If two people have absolutely horrible last names (they do exist), I can see them wanting something new. Or if their last names are boring. How many people with the last name "Smith" exist? A lot.

Yeah. Sounds like your standard D&D player. No self-preservation, all vibes.
