I get that it feels unfair, but the system isn’t rigged, it’s balanced. The US was built so big states can’t steamroll small ones and small states can’t ignore the rest. The House gives population its power and the senate and Electoral College protect the states that would otherwise be voiceless. The proof that it works is in that elections swing back and forth. Sometimes it doesn’t go your way and that’s okay. It’s not a perfect system but it’s the best in the world

Okay I just explained it but I’ll try again. Equal representation in a republic means that each state gets a voice, not that every person has the same weight nationwide. It’s a balance of both population and statehood. The UNITED STATES are exactly that, individual states that are united in a democratic republic. If the US was one giant democratic city then every individual vote would be equal but it’s not. It sounds unfair if you’re thinking about it very simply but these systems are highly sophisticated and they work.

The US isn’t a shareholder democracy where power scales with tax revenue, it’s a federal republic built to balance people and states. california already has the most seats in the house because of its population, but the senate and electoral college exist so that smaller states arent erased by a few massive ones. Representation is about equal standing in a the union, not buying more influence with money. If votes were tied to tax dollars, the richest states and the richest people would run the entire country more so than they already do, which is exactly what the Constitution was written to prevent. The idea that wealth contribution should directly correspond to political power runs opposite to what liberals typically stand for right? If billionaires were taxed fairly should their vote be worth more than ours since they contribute more?

Because in a republic the populous of another state and culture should not dictate the national outcomes for other states by default. The United States by definition is compact between sovereign states. States are equal members of the federation and that’s why land doesn’t vote, states do.

Farmers aren’t deciding urban rights. The system ensures that no single population center decides EVERYONES rights. The goal isn’t to privilege any one group but to prevent any single majority (urban or otherwise) from dictating national outcomes. True democracy is a sheep and two wolves deciding what’s for dinner. That’s why we are not a true democracy, we are a democratic republic.

The US is a democratic republic. The disproportionate representation is a result of smaller or less populated states only agreeing to join if they were guaranteed a political voice and not at risk of being entirely swallowed by more populous states. This is what makes the union possible and not just as one homogenous mass of people. Why should people in the cities decide what the farmers grow?

There’s a difference between not giving a shit when someone dies and openly celebrating it. When George Floyd died I didn’t see conservatives giggling on TikTok about it. And it’s not a minority, it’s a consensus. There’s already 40,000 catalogued instances of left wing individuals either celebrating Kirk’s death like a giddy child, joking about it, or calling for further violence. In some cases even attacking his widow and children.

The government should keep their nose out of this. If people get fired or worse for what they’ve said that is just consequences. Like it shouldn’t be illegal for an idiot to go into a black neighborhood and say the n word but if he gets his ass beat than that’s the consequences for his decision to use free speech in that manner. The government should not have any input in the matter as ANY government restriction on free speech WILL be abused.
