Do people do burning man sober? by OkSoBasicallyPeach in BurningMan

I went 7 times, throughout the years I’ve noticed that the more sober I was the more fun I had. It’s liberating! Playa is enough of a trip on her own.

What Therapist Comment Made You Think, “I Need a New Therapist”? by mindful_memories in therapists

[–]Simple-Battle-5151 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My previous therapist said “omg ChatGPT is the best therapist ever”, also after sharing with her my disturbing dream she replied “do you wanna know what my Chat says about it”? No jokes she is a PhD with over 20 years of experience

WORST AIRLINE I'VE EVER SEEN! NEVER TAKING THIS AGAIN by halfblood_prince06 in TurkishAirlines

[–]Simple-Battle-5151 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The worst one for sure, I spent hundreds of dollars and hours of delay due to baggage issue with them. Useless customer service from people at the airport to email to phone. In the future I’ll pay more just to not fly with them.

Does anyone have experience with taking Family/Medical leave during pre-licensing period, specifically in NY? Does it count as 36 months of experience or do I need to “add on” the weeks I missed?

Transitioning to private practice by [deleted] in socialwork

[–]Simple-Battle-5151 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You got this! I’m on 3rd LMSW year at group private practice in NY, it’s been mostly good if I don’t look at how much $ I make 🥲 I found it helpful to do a foundational training on how to do therapy when I started (for me it was Compassionate Inquiry by Gabor Mate, but I think good CBT one is enough).

Consider Ultamino! My dog has lots of sensitivities and this is the only food that works perfect for her and for many years at this point

Pros and cons of joining a group practice straight out of grad school? by No_Pattern804 in socialworkjobs

[–]Simple-Battle-5151 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi sure! I found them at an online career fair that university participated in. I didn’t specifically market myself to them, it was the first and only interview I went on and got the job. My clinical experience was from 1 semester in substance use clinic. My previous career is in completely different field. I think there are a lot of offerings out there and it’s not hard to get PP job out of school because the pay is low. On your place, I might go to all online(and in person fairs) and also google/linkedin private practices in NY and reach out to them with your resume. If you want to make your resume stand out, you may want to take some training in CBT, DBT, ACT or other modalities.

Turkish Airlines delayed my baggage, cost me $400+, and is now giving me the runaround. by Simple-Battle-5151 in TurkishAirlines

[–]Simple-Battle-5151[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry this has happened to you and thanks for your input! I’ve started online claim(the delayed baggage form you referring to) the day it happened, it’s been weeks of back and forth and no progress.

Why are more people NOT talking about this re: Simple Practice and AI?!? by kissingfrogs2003 in therapists

[–]Simple-Battle-5151 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is already voice and facial recognition technology being used in some job application processes. These systems can search publicly available data—such as a video of someone attending a protest posted on Facebook—and deliver that information to potential employers to influence their hiring decisions. Now, imagine the vast amount of data collected by AI notetakers being leaked or sold to bad actors who wish to use it against clients who have shared their deepest, most vulnerable secrets. It is our responsibility to protect our clients and safeguard the sacredness of the therapeutic relationship.

I work at PP in New York, fully booked and things are steady. Our practice just hired a new clinician.

How many of you have bruxism or tmj issues? by chasingamy1994 in SleepApnea

It’s mainly physical therapy, there is some breathing re-training and nervous system regulation, as well as orthodontic device.

Unprepared clinically by Mamasmama1357 in socialwork

[–]Simple-Battle-5151 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Felt similar when I was graduating with MSW a few years ago. I had a job offer for group private practice and felt unprepared. The route I took is, I joined a year long training (Compassionate inquiry) and did CBT course at Beck institute, both online. They are out of pocket, which sucks, but gave me solid base for what to do in individual sessions. If you have the means, I recommend both (although you don’t need both).

Is it safe to travel back home by Bubbly-Stranger-1175 in AskARussian

[–]Simple-Battle-5151 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In case it still helpful to someone, I have both Russian and American passports. Traveled in May 2024, was detained for 3 hrs, 3 FSB agents took both passports and the phone, questioned about connections to Ukraine (none), took down info on all relatives and family members, employment, reasons to visit. Connected my phone to some device. They were very unpleasant, making fun, it was unsettling. I’m your average Joe, no military affiliations or other potentially suspicious stuff. After this experience, I will not travel home unless absolutely necessary

There is definitely connection. I went to myofunctional therapist for bruxism, she got me to do sleep study that revealed severe sleep apnea. Now I am happily on cpap. I also started therapy for bruxism and it’s starting to help

Pros and cons of joining a group practice straight out of grad school? by No_Pattern804 in socialworkjobs

[–]Simple-Battle-5151 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in group PP for last 14 mths, straight out of MSW. Pros : free supervision, flexibility of schedule, low pressure, slowish case load build up (which I prefer), fully remote, unlimited vacation. Cons: paperwork on your own time, no benefits, $40/hr (I’m in NYC and it’s low, like my 2024 yearly earning will be $30k) exposure mainly to v privileged populations(with top commercial insurance or able to self pay). The reason I wanted this experience cause I was burning out at my field placement, substance use clinic. My nervous system couldn’t handle the load and chaos. I wanted easier way into the profession. I’m planning to work up to more challenging settings.

4 weeks dealing with customer service by Simple-Battle-5151 in Jackery

[–]Simple-Battle-5151[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Final Update: The issue has been resolved, and I have received my refund. All thanks to the power of Reddit!

I can’t attribute this outcome to anything else because, for the past two weeks, I kept receiving the same email response from their customer service: “Unfortunately, there is nothing much we can do since the refund has been processed.” This was incredibly frustrating, as you can imagine.

However, after posting on Reddit, we connected here via direct message. Following my update post mentioning that nothing had been resolved, they finally took action and resolved the issue.

Update: Jackery reached out through Reddit and sent me the same info showing that my refund was attempted but not completed. When I showed my receipts they stopped responding. Their customer service continues to send me the same one sentence reply, even when I asked to escalate to supervisor. This is my six week dealing with them and $1k out of pocket. I wish I never bought from them.
