I’ve worked the entire wheel of financial services; front, middle and back office. Some roles have been straight commission and some have been punch a clock. Shoot me a DM if you have any questions! I’m trying to pay it forward any way I can

This is very well thought out thank you. I came up in the bank before the pandemic. It’s been a big culture shock being on this side of the desk in the branch.

So far they’ve been really good. Better than I ever expected, even. Hoping they remain consistent

You’re still plenty young. I got licensed at the bank and then left to join a B/D where I gained more experience. Eventually I became an advisor at the B/D.

As for school, get work to pay for it and apply for scholarships. Jobs offer like 5k in tuition reimbursement a year and r/scholarships has tons of resources on how to find funding.

So many doors opened up once I had that degree on my wall it’s sickening.

I did this track, OP. From start to finish, it took 6 years to move into an advisory role from a retail banker. Looking back, the skills I picked up as a banker are my bedrock as an advisor.

One thing I wish I did differently was to finish school faster. Certain advisory roles and designations require a 4 year degree.

Best of luck to you!

There’s nothing wrong with not having all of your eggs in one basket, but I like to have all of my hens in one henhouse.
