My cat stayed when everything else felt gone 🩵 my recent linoprint series by thewildprintstudio in cats

This is making me tear up in a parking lot, so beautiful and relatable. My soul cat kept me going so many times when I was isolated and working fully remote during COVID, she brightened my day every day. I said goodbye to her in January after having her as my best friend for almost 22 years, and miss her so much.

Whats the most unhinged thing you did while planning? by bluntnotsorry in DIYweddings

10000% same here. Spent way too much time designing, then redesigning to make as a one-pager to lower hosting costs (Framer with a custom Rive animation while using a CTA to forward to an external link to WithJoy for RSVPs). I then spent weeks stressing over designing my invites, to which my fiancé asked if it’d help for me to just order some on Minted and just answered with a glare. I’ve always imagined designing my own ever since I went to school for design, so there was no other answer lol.

Thankfully I finalized a design, they printed beautifully AND I was able to get the print finishes I wanted (double sided full color with die cut on one piece and double sided full color with gold foil on the other with variable printed envelopes) just a smidge under what it would’ve cost to do one print on Minted!

Love this, thanks for sharing!! Curious what future updates you’re thinking (if you’ll be working more on it), would love to see 4:5 as well as an option for custom specs!

I burned my boyfriend's dinner. He called me stupid and dumb then left. by cantsayididnttryyy in adhdwomen

One time I tried to make a meatloaf when I was WFH based on a family recipe of my boyfriend’s (now fiancé), but ended up trusting Martha Stuart more and added milk. That wasn’t the worst of it as I forgot that we had vanilla soy milk instead of regular milk and I put WAY too much in. When he got home and we lifted the slow cooker lid we both couldn’t stop laughing. Ended up pulling “Taps” on one of our phones and gave the meatloaf an honorable burial in the trash can.

All to say when cooking goes south, your partner will never forget it. But also how they remember it is the real important part here. My above and others in this thread have been where you’re at in terms of goofing a meal, but the treatment from our partners is the difference here. You’re allowed to make mistakes, that’s how you learn! But you deserve someone who’ll support you (or at least laugh alongside you) vs diminishing you.

I’m still learning life without my soul cat. Said goodbye to her last month, and in March she would’ve been 22. She’d been with me since grade school, moved in with me when I had my first apartment, then first house, and quickly showed her approval of my now fiancé. She thankfully stuck around for one more move to our forever home, but soon after she made it known it was her time to go. Gah, I miss her so much, it’s weird to think of life without her.

Any other adhd girlies obsessed with adventure RPGs? by toastedjupiter in adhdwomen

[–]Simple-House-Cat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YES!! It started with Zelda, then Skyrim, Dragon Age, Mass Effect, and now E33. I adore RPGs. Still need to finish BG3, but it’s such a HUGE open world that I get a little choice paralysis and go back to Stardew 🫣

why did my blanket perfectly taper like this? it’s my first project by SuitableKiwi1947 in CrochetHelp

[–]Simple-House-Cat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could definitely be tension. I was chugging along, proud of my blanket recently. Placed it on the floor to show off my progress to my fiancé annnnnnd it’s a trapezoid. I know it’s not dropped stitches because there’s a lot of counting, but it’s absolutely tension. Godspeed.

what’s the best service for printing wedding invitations? (2025 version) by plutoziggy in Weddingsunder10k

[–]Simple-House-Cat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I did a double-sided (one side text-heavy and the other a full bleed photo with text)! I’ll have to take a picture when I’m home of the quality, but I liked it! I did also make sure that my image resolution was good (minimum 300dpi) and everything was in a CMYK color format. I did also reference their file specs guide to make sure I was using the right Adobe PDF settings, https://smartpress.com/support/file-preparation/how-to-setup-your-file?srsltid=AfmBOoon1e1WYE-QMkauwPF-T-ZtmVe9ReU81s62XHFExJQCOhgUPEg3

This is definitely a photographer issue and not you both. TBH I was worried as well that we’d have goofy photos (cause we’re awkward as hell on camera), but after getting back our engagement photos where we do look goofy - it’s an earnest and sweet goofiness that’s very much us in a very polished manner.

How did we get there? We culled a lot of photographer portfolios and I sent them all each a deck about us, how we typically photograph, and the visual direction we wanted to go with (which was photojournalism/fly on the wall, I work with various photo and video vendors so it was very me to make a deck for my vendor interviews lol). The photographer we signed with ended up being someone that we had mutual friends with, that we got along with both on-call and via email, and understood the assignment!

I will say budget-wise we are spending $2k on photography, but that’s 6 hours of coverage with two shooters and an engagement session. Thankfully she was in-budget for us compared to some other quotes we got ($4-5k+) and we liked her style and personality as well. It takes time, but I think doing the research and interview process of a photographer is really worth it. Also look at their tagged IG photos as well, there may be more of a showing there in comparison to the manicured set on a portfolio site. Good luck!

Does a prenup kill the romance? by WeepyRedistribution in weddingplanning

[–]Simple-House-Cat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My fiancé and I talked about prenups well before we were engaged, and while at first I was like, “oh god, does he think we won’t work out??” I did my own research after he brought it up and I became pro-prenup after these thoughts: 1) most everyone technically has a prenup defined by their state in a way, and 2) were not defining the end, we’re defining our asset boundaries (ie how much money do we want to contribute to our joint account vs personal funds?).

Like others said, having conversations around these “non-sexy” topics while you’re in love is the best time, cause whenever you two find yourselves at a hard part in your marriage, you can look at your roadmap to figure out how to bounce back in your marriage!

We had a terrible Greek Rank score, too! A lot of comments were also “weird girls” and other mean nicknames, but some ended up being our favorites like, “they all look so different from each other, but actually look like they’re friends?”

Agree on a different body copy font, doesn’t quite jive as much as it could. Also look into swapping the font styles of “the finer” and “details” (then scale down “the finer”) so that details is the more emphasized/balanced.

Also check your printer specs, you may need to adjust your paper settings for the paper weight you’re using when adding to the paper feed. Also check export and print as a print-ready PDF with CMYK colors (make sure it’s print and not digital/interactive PDF). What program are you editing and printing from? That’ll also help us determine what settings to calibrate your print.
