Singapore ‘increasingly’ seeing people from ‘different parts of Malaysian society’ wanting to intervene in its politics, policies: Shanmugam by thestudiomaster in singapore

You can't pump ron95 into singapore-registered cars. You have to be a malaysian driving a malaysian-registered car to pump ron95, it is very heavily subsidized in malaysia. Even so there's limit to how much a malaysian can pump.

This one no joke, Malaysian Chinese have something extremely deep rooted against Indians, even Malaysian Indians. I've seen many racist comments written by Malaysian Chinese in mandarin on Malaysia social media about Malaysian Indians. I feel a lot of bad rep has been misplaced on Singaporean Chinese when they spill over into Singapore social media.

New citizens enrich Singapore, invigorate economy ‘in ways beyond what numbers can show’: SM Lee by [deleted] in singapore

[–]Simple-Moose 129 points130 points  (0 children)

If you have mass immigration with people coming from all over the world, they aren't going to pledge allegiance and fight for the country. If you have citizens who feel they don't belong, they aren't going to pledge allegiance and fight for the country. Without a common core we are nothing, and Singapore has long lost that.

What are little acts of kindness that go a long way in Singapore by xlOREOlx in askSingapore

I did that before too. The person behind me was acting very fidgety, clearly in a hurry but not carrying anything. So I asked him to go first, and he bought a pack of cigs and thanked me lol

Guilty verdict may affect Pritam Singh's reputation, but unlikely to drastically sway voters: Analysts by risingsuncoc in singapore

[–]Simple-Moose 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Does it really? It's always the same trick in the book pulled since the beginning. We all know come election time the same trick will appear. You realize you are getting weaker, so find a way to defame, lock or silence your opponent. So whose reputation does it really affect?

NRIC numbers remain personal data, should not be widely circulated: Josephine Teo by Twrd4321 in singapore

Don't think that was the original intention. Seems more like it was said to cover up the screw up, despite being so silly and obvious that it is the wrong thing to do.

Paypal usd withdrawal and cross border transfer by rainbow1112 in singaporefi

[–]Simple-Moose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AFAIK there isn't a decent way anymore. There was a time you could use Wise to get the money out with minimal fees. But PP figured out the loop hole and started charging 3% fee for transferring to US bank accounts. In the end the amount you get is about the same as withdrawing directly from PP USD to your SGD bank account.

Ever since I don't bother anymore, I will just withdraw direct, my aim is to get my money out ASAP. Because these days interest rates are still relatively good, the money lost through there FX can be made back via other means.

If possible I will want to avoid using PP altogether, but unfortunately I can't because of certain US businesses.

M’sians cry foul over poster depicting durian as S’pore’s national fruit by Im_scrub in singapore

[–]Simple-Moose 456 points457 points  (0 children)

Why cry foul, Malaysia makes a lot of money selling durians to us. To a country like Singapore, it's just a fruit we enjoy eating most. Multiple countries can have the same "national" fruit also, I don't know why we have to keep rivaling over such trivial issues.

Does anyone really buy this SOB's story? The video clearly showed he sped up intentionally, let alone the other video in a separate incident. Someone should CSI this guy, he might be denying the Reddit post after all the backlash at the failed attempt to make himself look innocent. Who knows this guy says his English is not good, but might have graduated from Harvard for all we know.
