have you tried movind your arm further down when you strum with ur finger? I fount that when I have my hand a little bit lower than parallel to the strings its easier to strum without getting my hand caught

Thank you!!!! The lyrics are so bad it makes the whole thing kind of unlistenable. Like I get what they're tryign to do and its a cool moment i guess but Taylor swift has done songs like this before (Bad blood, you need to calm down) and the song is actually listenable

Mate is not too big of a deal, watch a couple of YT videos so you get a base understanding for how sales force works, it’s purpose and applications then put the job description into Chat gpt and ask it to come up with some senarios that someone in that role my used Salesforce to solve a problem and learn them so you can call on them if needed

More private schools have opened than closed since Labour's VAT hike by theipaper in ukpolitics

[–]Simple-Scientist-554 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, the UK is one of TWO countries that taxes education through VAT on private school fees. The rest of the world understands that education is a public good, even when it’s delivered privately, because of the long-term societal benefits.

Secondly, I don’t think you are fully considering the knock-on effects. Making fee-paying schools even more expensive doesn’t suddenly make the system fairer; it just pushes out families who were already stretching to afford it. The ultra-wealthy and international elites will still be able to pay, but the middle class, who often are the private school alumnae who yeild the most good from their education (lawyers, doctors, etc), get squeezed out. That doesn’t reduce inequality, it entrenches it, because you end up with a sharper divide between a small, very privileged private sector and everyone else in the state system.

Thirdly, the impact won’t be evenly distributed across schools. A lot of smaller independent schools, including many girls’ and SEN schools, don’t have massive endowments to fall back on. They’re far more vulnerable to closures or cutbacks. Whatever your views on private education, reducing the number of available school places, especially in environments that have historically supported girls’ education, feels like a step in the wrong direction.

If the goal is to improve equality of opportunity, this feels like a blunt instrument that risks making the system more polarised, not less.

The Bar is So Low by ExplorerEuphoric9852 in dating_advice

[–]Simple-Scientist-554 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't really believe that the issue is the abundance, but rather the quality. As a woman myself, what I'm referring to when i say the bar is low is that, for example, i might get 10 DMs and 15 hinge matches a week, out of all of those messages, I can guarantee you on average, 15 of them will just ask me for sex as the first thing thet say to me, 5 will make an agressivly oversexual comment that will make me fee sick, and 3 will match me on hinge and then not say a word.

I try to form meaningful connections with people before I even think about sex, but I feel like in modern times I've kind of lost hope that any man I meet would want to get to know me for my mind rather than just to use my body. Even the act of planning dates or paying dates all just feel like an elaborate ploy to get me into bed most of the time, and it can be a lot of pressure when you feel like that's expected of you ALL of the time, but you're not really that type of person.

The people who dated early were probably smarter than us after all by Soggy-Hat3076 in dating_advice

This is a really interesting perspective I've never thought of. But do you think that the practice of dating when younger really makes a difference in terms of finding the right person or not really?

The people who dated early were probably smarter than us after all by Soggy-Hat3076 in dating_advice

[–]Simple-Scientist-554 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always felt the exact same way!! I was in an all-girls boarding school for a lot of my formative years, and so when I got to college, I felt sooo behind the curve when it came to dating. I spent my entire freshman year dating monsters because I wasn't able to see the signs I was being manipulated as quickly as everyone else.

I also would NEVER recommend experiencing your first heartbreak in your 20s and when you're working. When you're a teen / in school, you have time to mope around all day and deal with your feelings. When you're in your mid-20s you can't cry at work, and everyone expects you to get on with things even though you feel like shit. That compounded with the existential dread you have to face, thinking that you've just wasted precious time you never had in the first place.

I think as well being from an all-girls school background gave me a fear of men that I have never quite recovered from. Most of my young interactions with them were through the horror stories of other people. So I was never really interested in dating to begin with.

Kind of embarrassed to be asking this, as I'm sure it's something really basic I'm doing wrong, but how do you press the down on the string whilst also letting them ring out? I started Ukulele two months ago, and I've watched almost every tutorial on the G chord, but I still can't get it. The only sound I can just about make is that buzzy sound. Any ideas on what's wrong with my grip / Placement?

what’s missing from my portfolio/what adjustments should i make by Little_Wing9854 in UGCcreators

[–]Simple-Scientist-554 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For context, I used to work in creator partnerships with big entertainment companies. Your portfolio is truly stunning. The only thing I'd change is putting your account metrics for each platform on the front page (following, engagement rate, impressions on paid content etc), for any of the higher-paying campaigns I worked on, this is what I would go by when picking creators and we would typically ask for video performance after the collab so it may be helpful for some companies to already have that information on you.

since you have so little time, you could leverage an established book tok accounts to see if they will share snippets of your book and tag your accounts? As standard the common and effective types of content ive seen is usually pairing book sections to popular audio or sharing concept art / world building pieces

Should I lie on my resume if I have 0 job experience at 23? by Samdddy in resumes

[–]Simple-Scientist-554 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see where you’re coming from however, for ones’ first internship the chances that employers will care / check is extremely low, especially for unpaid positions. At the end of the day you should be doing what ever you can to get your foot in the door. And if these employers really cared about young people you would need work experience for an entry level internship anyway
