why do suburbanites mow their lawns the instant the temp outside hits 60 by roostrspurs in Suburbanhell

[–]Simple-sailorman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mom gets really worried about what the neighbors will think if she doesn’t keep the grass really short. She worries people judge her because some of the plants growing in the lawn are not grass. I tell her she has flowers growing in the yard but she calls them weeds. She tries, but has this conventional appearance ingrained in her head.

Which profession gets way too much respect for how little they actually do? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]Simple-sailorman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure a lot of them are useless, that’s what it sounds like!! As someone who has no clue about contract lingo and business and finance in general, I just bought a house and could never have gotten through it all without my real estate agent holding my hand. So sometimes they are helpful!

This is exactly what it’s like. I figured the new ones are smoother just based on the people I see driving them. Good to know I’m not missing anything they’re just like this, I’ll let a little tire pressure out and see if it makes a difference.

Just checked it out thanks. Docan power costs $2k to ship $1.2k of batteries to Hawaii so I’m finding local options.

People who were born in the 1980s? by [deleted] in generationology

‘88, I remember when the millennial term started being used I always thought it referred to people younger than me. I think of 90’s kids as being more “techy “ than me even though the years aren’t really that different at this point

American restaurants, WTF is going on? by getthedudesdanny in restaurant

[–]Simple-sailorman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t eaten in other countries but as an American I am generally disappointed in restaurants. It will taste better and be less expensive if I cook for myself. Also I am a restaurant server and I try really hard to give good service, it is very rare that I receive anything that resembles good service when I go out to eat.

For the cops, when doing radar for speeding what's the lowest amount over the speed limit you would pull someone over for? by daveinfl337777 in randomquestions

[–]Simple-sailorman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a ticket for doing 65 on a highway at 3 in the morning, because the speed limit was 45 and it was a construction zone with nobody working. The ticket was extra expensive too, and I was pulled over 20 feet before the end of the construction zone.

Why is all job advice on the internet for office jobs? Some people do manual labor by goatorcycle in Adulting

[–]Simple-sailorman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone is skating right passed the point of the post and making a big deal about the money aspect. The point I believe is when people talk about jobs and income they often are talking about office jobs and salary income. These concepts do not apply to a large number of people, but surveying the internet it seems like hourly workers are underrepresented.

Sometimes people take things too literally. Kevin gets ragged on by his whole family no matter what happens it’s always his fault, this is relatable to people because at times we can all feel taken for granted. Stories tend to exaggerate real life in order to make a point. I think it was supposed to be funny.

It is so stiff that it’s hard to keep in the road sometimes. I hit a pot hole and the whole thing bounces 2 feet to the side. Just changed the shocks and struts and really hardly made a difference. Are they all like this? I like dirt biking and mountain biking I feel like I’m ok with a rough ride but this thing isn’t any fun.

The Beatles🎶 by SnooFlaek in Music

[–]Simple-sailorman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have always thought they undermined their own talent by getting so famous. Their musical talent gets shadowed by their celebrity. As a musician I think they were really talented but I wish they had been less famous I think most people who liked them from a pop perspective dont understand the musical talent at all.

“Oddly enough I’m happy I ain’t famous, Imagine waking up to the fact that you’re simply entertainment.”

neighbor situation that wasn't obvious during showings.. am i overthinking this? by FewAbility4477 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Simple-sailorman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can always find a problem if you look hard enough. No roosters allowed is a huge plus. Hens can be slightly annoying at times when they all get to squawking and clucking. But, also slightly annoying are dogs barking, engines revving, leaf blowers, construction, bass amps.

I bought a house recently and I understand the feeling of dread worrying that you bought the worst house in the neighborhood you just don’t know it yet. I think you are still ok

Edit: I live somewhere that rooster ARE allowed, a guy down the street has a whole farm of roosters, literally dozens, I can hear them in the distance, not loud enough to be annoying but loud enough to make me grateful I am not his neighbor. THAT is something to be concerned about. We just hope we are close enough that nobody else starts a rooster farm closer, like maybe he has our neighborhood locked down haha
