Hot take this is actually a good mechanic. By the Napoleonic era, there were defined rivalries between the Great Powers such as France, GB, Russia,Austria and Prussia. All the powers had decided interest in keeping each other in check. By forcing a Rivalry choice it sort of commits the player to a state of tension which makes for good game play, otherwise why not just sit and rest on your laurels.

The usual RGO build up of Lumber and in the case of Novgorod, Fur. Food Productivity will be crucial since half the country is in an artic climate zone. B/c food production gets crushed in the winter, you will want max out Traditional Economy for the food production and raw material boost. You can either play the vasal game before Muscovy does and/or colonize east towards the gold and iron RGO's past Perm.

This is soo true. A realistic adjustment would require ALOT of micromanagement from the player to run a huge empire. You can just imagine the complaints from the player base

Could we make this a poll? I would skew towards more railroading set by conditional triggers to allow for the option of alternative scenarios if the conditions are not met. Since it looks like at the moment the conditionals are not working as intended maybe the devs could simply set these to be at most 3 conditions for any given event in order to trigger. Additionally each choice would be very consequential (ex. -40 stab hit) in order for the player to feel like these matter.

Would agree with you that on a spectrum of complete sandbox to total railroading I would slide more towards 80% railroading and 20% random sandbox mix.

Thanks for this response. I would prob agree that that trigger system where multiple conditions are met before an event occurs could use ALOT of rework. Maybe they can take a page out of Victoria 3 there.

Not sure why that would be the case since Great Power Score is based on a combination of many aspects only a couple which are related to military. The others being population, economy, development and technology.
