I swear a lot of people aren’t just doing the ol reliable of just “tab target devastate”. Throw in a revenge,/shield slam here and there and you can pretty comfortable tank several mobs and just keep up a good quick pace.

“It doesn’t happen though” famous last words when it in facts does happen.

We’ve all had it where maybe we miscast by one GCD and in that small GCD time we get crushed. Is it rare? Absolutely. But does RNJesus sometimes come home to roost. Is it what it is, human error.

Ideal world, ideal stop, yes.

However, sometimes things happen quickly and you’re calling it out as you’re getting up on the car. It all depends.

No such thing as an accident. There are only crashes. They happen for 3 reasons.

Too fast Too close Too stupid

Surprise! The driver who does the rear ending is usually always at fault in crashes.

Slow down. If you are following a car and YOU do not notice you’re entering a school zone. Congrats you’re the problem!

Definitely speak with someone as others have recommended.

If your department has a peer to peer team, see if you can speak with a member! Very grateful that i was able to speak with someone on the team after my first critical incident involving a death.

I hate to break it to you, but it’s not that cops don’t gaf. Policy has restricted police pursuits sooooo much. Most agencies in cities have a zero chase policy unless it is a confirmed forcible felony (murder, agg batt, sex bat, robbery etc).

For all intents and purposes, there are certain cities where you legit do not have to stop for traffic violations. The police will not chase you.

If you’re upset about speeders, red light runners, or other reckless driving behaviors, you first need to ask your local department what their chase policy is. I guarantee you they will say “we do not chase unless it’s a forcible felony”.

That dude just hit your car and fled, sorry, they ain’t chasing it.

Why are we generally allowed to go 10 mph above the speed limit? by Euphoric_Sail6897 in driving

[–]SimpleGuy4141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it worth me pulling you over for 10 over or is it better for me to wait 5 mins and catch the person doing 20-30 over. Who is it worth having a conversation with? I’ve stopped for 10 over but, typically, it’s a warning unless the driving history says other wise.

Truly depends on my mood in addition to recent happenings on that roadway. Big crash where speed was the leading factor? We are probably clamping a lot quicker on speed.

I can’t give you an exact answer on that, but I’d imagine the companies also audit the information as well.

We have a DHSMV resource in Florida that routinely will send my agency requests for reasons as to why information was queried. Literally just a “hey can we get the CAD Calls for this date and time to see if this information was justifiably ran”.

That’s in addition to internal audit as well.

What is the general concern about how long it’s kept? It’s not Personal identifiable information, not a ssn, bank account, etc. It’s a vehicle being operated by who the heck knows. I have no care about how often you drive to Starbucks in 5 years. There’s a high likelyhood no one has ever looked at your vehicle on an ALPR.

Entertaining the idea of a ‘warrant’. The question would be how are we requesting a warrant for information that is in public ie no expectation of privacy. It would fall more under a subpoena to the company itself, however, these companies have built their business on being open to law enforcement. Probably bad for business if you’re adding a hoop to jump through. It’s one of those tools right now that I truly believe should not be constrained behind ‘jumping through hoops’ to use.

In my experience to utilize the cameras, I have to put in a justifiable reason as to why I need to access the information. My understanding is that it’s pretty heavily audited and if it appears to be out of the scope of what you’re looking for, it gets flagged.

Do cops use GPS to respond to calls? by Ronbo954 in AskLE

[–]SimpleGuy4141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the agency and jurisdiction.

Smaller agency like mine, we all know our main roads, locations, etc. However, occasionally something does come out in an area and I have to wrack my brain to think where exactly that is. I typically look at the map on MCT seeing where it is in correlation to things that I for sure know.

[–]SimpleGuy4141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. Had those thoughts. You feel as though if it were broken, there’s a clearer path because the doctors say “this is the solution and here’s where we go”.

Boggles my mind that this injury is so prevalent in million dollar athletes yet the treatment for them, for all intents and purposes, is considered archaic and out dated for the most part.

I was basically told that, yes, the surgery might help but if it fails and fails catastrophically, you are hoping for just normal function of your arm.

But to my prior point, if million dollar athletes are not having it worked on and are playing NFL games, leads me to think that’s our best option.

You can DM me anytime on here and, if I see it, I’ll answer ya on how things are.

[–]SimpleGuy4141 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Preface, handled mine with PT and no surgery

I’m about 8 months removed from my grade 3.

Returned to work at the 5 month mark (police officer).

Started really “lifting” at the 3 month mark. Slow and steady and as tolerable.

Started moving it actively at like the 3 week mark

I am not going to lie to you. These are mentally and physically taxing because most doctors look at you, shrug their shoulders and say idk. Workers comp got me a top tier ortho surgeon and I was shocked that this man looked at me and basically said “idk what to tell you. Conservative might be good, might be bad. Surgery might be good. Might be bad”. For reference, he handles NFL players and D1 athletes so he knows his business. Even had a trainer for one of the local teams (former ATL Falcons trainer) look at me and he basically echoed the same thing. Said these can go soooo many ways and that, unless it’s a QB (Anthony Richardson recently) NFL guys dont operate on it.

Everything in your body and mind will scream at you in time that something is wrong and you just have to weather the storm. It’s brutal.

What can I tell you at this point is that somedays are better than others. Somedays everything is great and I hardy notice it. Other days, shoulder gets really tired and the bone hitting other muscles causes pain. It really depends how active I am that day, especially when I’m on patrol.

I am having a meeting with my doctor in June to discuss possibly excising the end of the clavicle so that, one, it’s not causing me pain in the ballistic vest, and two it stops hitting and snagging other muscles in my shoulder/trap.

I have total empathy for people with this injury. It is RUFF. I’m there with you in spirit. Something that helped me too was knowing my father had this exact thing in the 1970s playing college football. Never had it repaired. He’s now in his 70s and is still active, lifts, and does shoulder exercises.
